the fifth day

Rightyó... well, I am just counting the days now. Although I really like to be in the embassy, I am ready to head on home and just relax. Also just to get the bloody hell out of the house where I´m staying and go home :D That´s another story... that will probably not be told here ever. So Cambridge Massachusettes here I come.... well, on friday. That´ll be a really nice little vacation. I´ll finally go to New England... a place that I have totally imagined in my mind. Crab boats, docks, cool breeze, salt/fish smell in the air... love it, and we shall see if it´s an image of mind that comes to life.
So Amma Níní´s birthday was on Saturday, as was Alexander Hrafn´s, Auður´s and Ársæll´s little one, baptised on Saturday. Really sucks not being there for those two events. But I guess it´s as they say... you can´t be in two places at once. Well... gotta get back to work. Counting the days... counting the days... 4 days after this day and then I´m off to Willy!

sushi-go-where-?

I am such a loser. So yesterday I was supposed to meet all those interns and hang out with them and most likely make life-long friends that would be with me to the grave... but no... Hildur forgets the little paper that she wrote the name and location of the restaurant at work. Of course she does not remember anything she wrote down... except that the restaurant is somewhere in Adams Morgan and that it is a sushi restaurant. Well, let us see... a million restaurants in Adams Morgan and many of them sell sushi. At least I burned some calories while my face was leaking down onto my shirt. So I definitely roamed around a lot. But then I bumped into the guy who also lives in the house and we went out for drinks. At one of the places drinks were on the house for ladies... so I drank. :)
Well... better get back to work... very important business awaits me... right...

feeling down...?

Yo

Well wouldn´t you know it... Hildur just got invited to a “intern get-together” at a Sushi bar tomorrow!! Haha, oh how long the little lady has been waiting for this. ;) Yeayeayea, well I´m gonna go, hopefully it´ll be fun, and if it isn´t, then there´s sushi!
I went to a spinning class yesterday at the gym and today I am walking around like a penguin. Did you March of the Penguins? Yes, today I am able to convince people that I was the one to first dive into the ocean in that movie. SAY WHAT? No but seriously, not only that, but yesterday morning I kicked my guitar case so freakin hard that I though my toe was going to fall off. That is why it´s comfy shoe day. Love the comfiness.
So the building across from me is having its windows cleaned. There is a cart hanging outside of a window. That´s some scary shit. I would never recomend anyone that job.
So... about the Israelis attacking Lebanon... that´s shit.

All right... well the heat wave that is slowly passing the east coast of the us is definitely making me lose like 15 pounds. It must be! I mean, I seriously leak here. You would think some pounds would follow that water... right? Well, a girl can always dream. But seriously, it´s HELLO hot outside and I just hate hate hate walking in this weather. But I have gotten some color, red, lately. I went to Georgetown on Sunday to spend a day with the most fun and excelent person I know... myself. Hey, you have to talk good about the person who you have to spend every single day and moment with ;) Well I went shopping, ate lunch and dinner there, went to see You, Me and Dupree, sat on a bench by the water and “tanned”. It was a really good day and I bought a lot of töff stuff. The consequence, like I stated earlier is that I got burnt and am a lot of money poorer... but who the hell cares, it was a great day :D
So today I don´t know exactly what I will do... probably will throw some things into the washer, go to the gym and scavange something to eat. Sounds like a plan. WeLp, gonna go now... adios

Yeah yeah yeah... SO FRANCE DIDN´T WIN!!! GO ITALY!!! YESS!!! They ruined like every single game for me, so they were definitely not on my good side ;) I still have to see Zidane´s foul... missed that because I had to take the train up to D.C. yesterday.
So I went to Williamsburg this weekend. My father picked me up on Thursday and then I came back yesterday. Good stuff, good stuff... I am starting to look forward for this month to be over and just going to chill at home until I go to Iceland.
So, now the World Cup is over and Hildur will stop going to the bars like no other. Well, maybe not stop going to the bars, but at least give them a small break. And who knows, maybe I´ll find some new bars! Now that I don´t have to keep searching for a bar that is playing the game. Interesting times ahead. WELL, i don´t have too much to say right now... more blog later.

the fun times... the fun times...

Well... I have become the unlucky charm. For some reason, all the teams I want to win... LOSE! I think some greater soccer force is trying to tell me to stop watching the games and go on with my regular exciting life. But that's bullocks! Germany has to pull through now... and I will be there watching and cheering until they do!
So I watched the games yesterday... what a tragedy! First, England loses... second, BRAZIL LOSES! What is up with that? I was not a happy camper after the game, I will tell ya! By the way, the bar where I watched the game was packed! Seriously... I had to watch the game downstairs and there... people ended up sitting on the floor! It was an all right mixture of Brazil and France supporters though... so there was some cheering by the end of the game.
So last night I met up with the au pair girls... and that was crazy fun. We ended up grilling, drinking, hanging out and talking about who we know in Iceland, because for some reason everyone in Iceland know somebody that you know. Then we ended up going downtown and going to the "icelandic bar" as some call it. Actually, it's a bar where they sell VÍKING beer... but at one of the bars there was an Icelandic flag hanging outside. I'm definitely going to have to go there again.
Hmm... well lets see, I didn't make any guy cry this time, wasn't told that I was a horrible dancer, didn't get asked to go to the basement with Raul... I would say it was a very successful night! Wouldn't you?!? But I will tell you, we did end up getting talked to by this guy, who was VERY interested in Iceland and us, and then I made some comment on why him and his friend were sitting together (some gay comment) and then this guy COMPLETELY cracked up and HIS LAUGH was TERRIBLE!!! I swear, I can't even explain it... it was like a donkey, monkey, whale kind of mix... HALLARIOUS! I swear, when he started laughing, I though I was about to die... seriously, I though I was going to fall into a laughing spree... but thank God that only lasted a short time, because this guy would've killed me with his laugh. DAMN, I think that was the funnest part of the night. Oh no, wait wait wait... when we were waiting for the metro when we were going home, this guy was sitting beside us and literally waited like 15 minutes to ask where we were from. He was like all trying to listen to us, and it was just so funny. And we thought it was so funny so we laughed and laughed and laughed!! hahaha. Then I made shunned a guy who rooted for France... poor kid. Hahaha, seriously, he was probably like 17! AHAHAH! Well, you're not supposed to root for the wrong team!

the not so nice,
