high heels, mormans, educated posts?
High heels... walking tons and getting lost in the streets of washington? Good Idea? NO
My feet are officially giving up on me... I like HAVE to wear socks just to get the damn swelling down. Big Foot is my middle name now, screw the Sólveig, unless it means HUGES FEET! So yea, Hildur decided to go a new way home... not get off at the metro station that I used last time, but another one. Stupid stupid stupid. I knew I should´ve asked directions before I started my wandering. AND WANDERING I DID. I like basically walked a circle around the place where I´m staying. What a bright little girl... walking in her high healed shoes, dying of heat.
I MUST HAVE BEEN SO PRETTY.
Well, I can tell you something new that I did this evening. I prayed with Mormans. Never has that happened... Dagný, this is all your fault. I jinxed myself because you didn´t wish me luck with them! Whoa man. Maybe I´ll come back to Iceland as a Morman. HAHAH! That would be pretty awesome... eh?
Well, I´m totally in the blogging mood these days, so ya´ll better keep up! God forbid you guys miss some of my immensly knowledgable thoughts.

First day... over and out!
All right guys.... I am officially a business woman.
I SURVIVED MY FIRST DAY AS A BUSINESS WOMAN!!!
how crazy is that? Definitely a bit crazy!
So, who will be the first to visit me? REMEMBER GUYS... IT'S A RACE!
I would put my bets on Jeremiah, because he's going up to Jersey, so why not stop by D.C. on the way. Well, unless he flies there, because I think he will. That brat ;)
I have taken everything out of my suitcase, out of all the bags, and my good ole lap-top has it's place on the table. Oh my oh my, I am officially living in D.C. now. Speaking of, I'm invited to a "Good-bye" party on Saturday for one of the guys at work. That will be interesting... little ole Hildur with so many, oh so many business men. Good times!!! I'll have to keep ya'll posted.
Well, I'm just about starving, so I think the most obviouse and smart thing to do is go eat. HEYR HEYR! Speaking of food... ALL MY ICELANDERS... they have skyr here! Not only do they have Skyr, but they also have Icelandic water and Icelandic lamb and Icelandic FISH! Whoa man, watch out ya'll, homegirls gonna be BROKE AS A JOKE when she comes back to the klake!

Adios Williamsburg
HOLY MOLY!
adios

ahhhh....
Í gær fórum við syskinin til Virginia Beach. Mjög sniðug: fórum um 2 leiti, vorum komin þangað um 4:30, og komin aftur heim um 8:30. Ahhh.... svo gaman ;) Strákarnir voru í því að búa til einhverja svaka babe.... þeir kölluðu hana Sandy!!! Mjög vinsæl með risa sand-brjóst, stóran kringlóttan sand-munn (nú... hún þurfti líka að drekka bjór), og lappirnar í sundur. Sand-konur. Right...
Svo er kerlingin að fara að passa á eftir... ofsa mikið að gera hjá mér. Kannski fer í bara í sólbað áður en ég fer að passa! Oh, hvernig á maður að eyða deginum???!??!?
Jæja, lítið að frétta þannig að ég ætla bara að hætta að tefja ykkur frá því að lesa eithvað skemmtilegra! Já, góður.... eithvað skemmtilegra? Ekki til.

Jæja, ég get nú sagt ykkur að það er ekkert sérstakt búið að vera að gerast hérna hjá mér. Ég er bara að njóta þess að vera í fríi. Ég er sammt búin að vera að passa eithvað smá, svo erum við Einar (og ég) ein heima. En... Memorial Day Weekend er núna um helgina... þannig að það er spurning hvort að við drögum Árna bró á ströndina. Isssss...það verður ekki mikið mál. Hann er akkurat núna í Manhattan, Kentucky. HAHAHHAHAHA! OG VITIÐ ÞIÐ.... Þessi Manhattan... sem er í KENTUCKY.... er kölluð "the LITTLE apple!". Ahhhh.... Kentucky-ingarnir kunna að skemmta sér. Little Apple. haha gott kaffi!

HEY MR. TAMBORINE MAN!
All right already....
So, the blogs have not come spitting out as they should... but the thought of sitting down at my computer when school is over, well... lets just say that it's not tempting. Leah is here in Iceland right now AND WE'RE HAVING THE TIME OF OUR LIVES. This is what we've done
Sunday: Picked her up at the airport, and then during the evening we went to Oliver (we're so cool) and hung out there for a little bit.
Monday: the BLUE LAGOON!!! Yeps, and we're convinced that we saw Moby and the boss guy on the British "Office". Well, maybe not Moby (we just saw a bald dude) but at least we possibly saw the "Office" guy :) Strange that I didn't go introduce myself... "Hi, erm, do I know you?" Then it was so funny cuz when we were walking out of the Blue Lagoon, all these babes were walking into it and when we got to the parking lot, there was the hummer limosine with the "GOLD" license plate... GOLDFINGER STRIPPERS ENTERING THE BLUE LAGOON. Yeps, good thing I got my white ass out of there before they got there! HAHAHA!
Tuesday: We went to Þingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir! It was such a NICE day! 24 degrees and sunny, and what topped the day was when I called my mum and she told me that the weather was better in Iceland than in Williamsburg! THAT´S CRAZY! Then we ended the day by going to Hveragerði, REPRESENT, to go swimming. Then I saw my cuzzzz Hildur Sigurveig and when to my uncle´s house real quick and saw her little baby girl. SOOOO CUTE! Then we ate pizza, BURNED to Rvk and met Stína at a coffee house.
Wednesday: Drove to Akureyri. Made me half insane. Just half ;)
Thursday: Mývatns lagoon. "Similar" to the Blue Lagoon, but not really. A bit more natural, just completely beautiful. Very relaxing :) Sólveig Fríða went with us, we were so entertaining that she fell asleep in the car. Yeps, while Leah and I were singing out hearts out to the SAME 3 CD´S THAT WE´VE HAD TO LISTEN TO ALL WEEK BECAUSE I DIDN´T HAVE ANY OTHER CDS WITH ME!!!!
So, today we will do some fun stuff... big party night in Akureyri. Then we leave for Rvk tomorrow. I´ll 'keep ya posted...' hahahahha!

D-O-N-E.... DONE!!!
All right, so school is OVER!!! I no longer have to wake up early in the mornings to go to class, no longer have to stay late up reading about the many problems of the legal world, and no longer have to sit in class until my ass goes numb! WOOOO DOGGIES!!!
So this weekend we celebrated and celebrated. On Friday we went to the firestation and played there a little bit. Úff... men in uniform ;) Then we went to Amour and there we played 'pub-quiz', then there was a party at my friends Sara´s and then we went downtown again and party hardyd. Let´s just say that it was a fun night :)
Yesterday we went to my friends Birna´s farm! Gotta love the farm. I was an allergy pumpkin in my orange fleece, but it was fun ;) AWW, i held a little lamb, so small and so cute!!! Little curls and such little legs. Then Sara, Dagný and I cooked and ate and had a beer, went downtown and then went home... Bananananum!!!!!! BANANANA, BANANANA, HEY HEY HEY BANANANA!!!
So, now I just have to entertain myself until Leah comes! I´m going to go to Reykjavík sometime soon, play it by ear ya know.
well, i´m off to clean the apartment,

On Friday, Þemis, the student council of the legal department is going to have some sort of fun activities for us poor legal students who cannot wait to get the hell out of here! haha! Then on Saturday, my classmate Birna is going to have some sort of BBQ on her farm. Hahaha, it´s so funny to say it in English. She lives on a farm. Mooo! ;)

the fourth day of summer....
I'm back
Lucky people you are, i'm back in Akureyri, back to school, which equals... MORE BLOG! Well i'll tell yall, I had quite a homecoming. The minute that I stuck my key into the lock of my door, Dagný called me and told me that we were going to celebrate. What were we celebrating? Erm, I'm not quite sure, but lets just say that we were celebrating togetherness, dancing sitting down, beer glasses on forheads and energizer bunny clapping. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, you missed out last night :)
So I am back. Yes yes yes, I'll tell yall that I enjoyed my time in Suðureyri a whole lot and there's a little man standing on my shoulder whispering in my ear that I should be in Suðureyri this summer. Will that happen? No, but it's fun to daydream. What am I talking about, I'm going to D.C. this summer! I'll ride the metro this summer. I'm finally going to have a "real" job. ANNA, we're the "real job" people!! Oh how I love growing up :os
But yea, speaking of Suðureyri, I recommend that everyone goes there sometime in their life. There´s a really nice and calm swimming pool and the greatest scenery! Almost every evening I walked a little way out of the town towords Stað and what you see is the opening, or the mouth, of the fjord. It´s like .......sssssssssssssssss........ (the .´s are mountain and the s´s are water) - in other words BEA-UTIFUL.
Well, I can talk about the greatness of Suðureyri forever, but I´m going to have to but a lid on it, so I´ll stop now.
HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE!

Lífið er lotterí...
I´m still here in Suðureyri, but my time is running out. I´ll be leaving tomorrow, whereas I´ll get a ride with one of my friends from Akureyri. Since the cost of flying here in Iceland is rediculous, I find this to be a great offer.
So, the swimming pool of Suðureyri has most definitely seen enough of me. I have gone to the pool almost every single day, and stayed there for at least 3 hours. :D Yep, that´s what I do!!! So Leah, if you don´t bring your swimsuit when you come, I´ll send you back to the States! haha!
So, Kristin, my Norwegian-Aussie friend lives in Australia at the moment. I´ll be collecting money from all of you who read this blog to fundraise in my expedition to Australia. PSSHHHH.... yeah right, I´ll maybe finally get there when i´m 85 years old! You people are so cheap :D
Well, I have to keep studying... since school does finally start on monday... I CANNOT WAIT!!! :oS wahhhh!

easter vacation.... ahhh relaxation
All right already! Because of Dagný´s little kick in the ass, I´ll write something finally. HAPPY EASTER YESTERDAY EVERYBODY. Boy has it been fun here in Suðureyrar city. The pool´s been open, family filled the town, and the "aldrei fór ég suður" concert was really good! Anyone want to guess the funniest part of the vacation? On Easter Sunday the people who were playing at the concert all, well most, came to church! THE CHURCH WAS FULL!!! Now, for those of you who don´t know, or have never been to church in Suðureyri, THAT DOESEN´T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN!!! The pop-ers filled up one side of the church, the townies the other. I felt so country. hahaha! I would have thought that they would have sung more to the psalms, but after a night of drinking many bottles of booze, I don´t think it produced the ideal health situation for sitting in church the next day.
So, I´m planning on staying here all week. Go to the pool and relax. Just take it easy. Chill a little bit.... if ya´ll catch my drift. :)
Hope everyone´s having a nice break, and I pitty you who are going to work tomorrow!!! ahrhahrahrhahrhahrhahrahahhahhahah

Longing...
When will the summer come come come? This snow is just going to make me flee to the States this summer. I have gotten an overdose of cold weather... I´m ready for a change. Change change change. By the way, I hate not having a car. It definitly blows. If I could squeeze 3 hours into the day, so that each day would be 27 hours, then I would be fine. Whereas that is not an option, I´m screwed. IF THE SNOW WOULD JUST DISAPPEAR, then things would maybe go a little bit smoother because then I could ride my bi-cy-cy-cycle... oh wait, nope, that got stolen! Well lucky me, I´ve got some boots that were obviously made for walkin, and by God, they will be walked. Well, that´s what happens when you don´t take care of your shit! SHIT HAPPENS. I really have to check to see if my bike is at the police station... one day, one day.
hopeless...

California dreaming
I'm shaking in my cheese!!!
Brrr... the frost king is blowing chills over to Akureyri. Cold cold cold it is at the moment. So cold that it decided to snow yesterday! Yep, not good stuff. Yesterday Sólveig invited me to dinner. Man, the day I cook like her.... that will be a great day. Campbell's Soup, SEE YOU LATER!
I bought a kitchen light, a light that hangs in the kitchen, in Ikea last weekend. My dumb ass can't even put it up! Don't worry, Dagný's can't either. Two chickens in a box with our heads cut off. No, we're not that simple... we needed a screwdriver.
Elections for the Student Council are on the 31. of March! Yippee!!! Campaigns start erm, I would say today, and last until elections. I hope people make tons of posters etc!!!
Well, I'm gonna get going right now... class almost ove-a!

The sun shone today on the town of Akureyri. This morning I went swimming with Vala (1st year law student). It´s so funny how the weather has an affect on how you feel. Today has been so relaxed and just nice. Watch it snow tomorrow ;)
So, homegirl´s probably going to be going to Reykjavík on Saturday. Hopefully I´ll get a rental car to take to the big city. That would make my life much easier. wrooom wrooom wrooom....!!!

a new background
So this weekend I went to Reykjavík. I know that the plan was to visit people and finish my research paper... I did neither. I was pretty busy though, so it´s all right. I have to finish the paper by midnight on Tuesday, so enough time enough time.
I changed the background of my blog, as you may see. I don´t know how long I will keep it, we´ll see.
So now I have to be in school from 8:10 in the morning to 11:45. This is very hard. Far too early in the morning... Well, guess I better pay attention.

What are we doing to Palestine??
How many people really know what's going on in Palestine.
Watch this clip about the Wall of Hate that is being built in Palestine, to get some further information about what is actually being done to the Palestine people.
Is this what our tax dollars are going into. Is this the democracy that we're trying to fight for. No.

heydiddleehodelliii

Yeps, this is what I want to look like on Saturday. For those of you who do not know what happens on Saturday, the Annual Feast of the University of Akureyri is being held. The theme? Mafia. Won´t it be great to see a whole lot of mafioso walking around Sjallinn? I think so, and Hildur the flapper hopping and skipping around the place... can a moment be any greater. Lets just hope everything turns out like it´s supposed to. If not, I´ll look like some crappy ass prostitute who just crawled out of the ocean. mmm, good times :)
SO, Leah and I finally talked via Skype today!!! yippee! She better come visit me!!!
I just bought some shoes today. They only cost 1990 kr. I would say it was a good buy. I´m maybe thinking about staying in Akureyri for the summer. I´m not quite sure how I feel about that. Well, if any of you are unhappy with my decision when I make it, then ya´ll are just going to have to come VISIT ME wherever I am, cuz you know i love ya! haha.
aight, well i´m gonna get going

tell me your opinion...
Isn't it fun when you get an epiphany and you realize that you really don't know as much as you thought you knew about life?
Although it's fun realizing you don't know all that you thought you knew, it kind of sucks because then you start to wonder what else you don't know. I think we should all write down lists of things we think we're sure about, then ask ourselves why we are so sure about those things. Can the things we're so sure about change by any chance? What would make us doubt ourselves? Should we doubt ourselves when we think something is so right?
The topic of discussion tonight was a four letter word we all know, but some have a hard time explaining, love. What love means, how it can mean different things to different individuals and how we percieve love. Is love only the act of one individual giving something up for another individual, for example giving up the playboy life? Do people in their nature continue to look for something better or just something else, even though they have something really great right in front of their nose?
Is love a combination of partnership, friendship, adorition and lust?
"There's a difference between love and lust." - A line spoken of a wise man. Is this true? Should they not go hand in hand?
flood me with your opinions,
the love fool

hola!
Man do I know how to work it in the kitchen!!! Sólveig and Tryggvi came for dinner tonight, and I made them the best leg of lamb known to people with the most scrumptious potato slices. I tell ya, the man who marries me... DAMN LUCKY! haha!
So, as said in my last blog, my mams came and visited me during the week! We had a great time together, just sad that we couldn´t spend even more time together. Then my paps finally and I say finally came to Akureyri on Friday after having missed two flights!! And people wonder where I get my timing from. It´s all in the family. It´s not my fault that I take bloody forever to pack up my backpack, leave the apartment... i´m late for life!
Well, I have a test tomorrow, haven´t studied too much... eeks! :os
Why is it that I always save everything for the last minute? BLAME IT ON THE FAMILY! HAHAHA!

Tomorrow, tuesday, the students at the University of Akureyri are walking out of their classrooms at 10:15 and protesting the governments failure to support our school like they should. It´ll be on the news and all. Finally, the students are getting their voices heard. HaHa, I can´t imagine anyone taking me seriously after having seen the picture above, but believe you me, I´s is serious!

hey there macaroni!
I bought a sofa on Thursday!!!
I won't get it until Tuesday though. It's not a pleasant sight, but it was fairly inexpensive, so I decided to do it. Buy the damn thing.
Last night I went to a pajama cocktail party. FUN FUN FUN! We were all there in our pj's playing board games (ahhh, you know games that are made out of cardboard. What are they called again, what are they called again?? haha!) and having a load of fun. All was going well, until we started taking pillows from the bedroom and had a brilliant pillow-fight. Not only did we destroy a few pillows, but we also ended up in our skimpy little panties and bra's. NOT, but this is what some guys think of when girls get together for a little pj party. Thought I would pour a little gasoline on the fire :)
well, don't have much more to say,

a load of crap...

What shall I say???
Don´t you hate it when you have so much to say, but you can´t say it? There´s so much bubbling inside you, but still, you are unable to understand what it means? Well, that´s my situation right now.
So dance today was different. We had a different teacher teach us, a very nice looking young man. Always fun to have a couple of those. ;) Too bad they´re all married or seriously bound by their lucky ladies. We did a crazy hip hop dance. It wasn´t like the up down on the ass and spin yourself kind, but rather like usher hip hop dancing. It was pretty cool. So next time ya´ll see me on the dance floor... BACK UP! Esther and I are gonna blow your minds!
So I was told today that my picture is everywhere to be found. Man, aren´t yall who see them damn lucky ;) haha! I have always been very fond of pictures. When I was younger I always wanted a camera. It wasn´t until I was in the 6th grade (I think) that I got a camera. Back then camera´s were a little bit more expensive, especially to get the film developed. Since then, I love taking pictures. It has something to do with how the picture saves and stops the moment. The moment is kept forever in the little picture, a picture that you may never be able to capture again. That´s why I love pictures, love taking pictures. One moment lasts a lifetime.
ANNA AND LEAH, come visit me!!! I miss you guys so much it hurts.

Trip to Reykjavík.... STORY TIME!

Hello great visitors of Hildur's blog! And welcome again to another exciting adventure to Hildur's World of adventure and excitement!!
This weekend the school went on a "field trip" to Reykjavík. Damn, party party party party AND field trip. Haha, well, the schedule was as follows: Thursday we left for Reykjavik, got to the hotel and PARTIED. Friday: We visited Hotel Saga where some companies were introducing their business etc... it was borring as SHIT! Then we went on a great field trip to UNICEF, I'm very glad we went there! Then we went to RÚV, the National Broadcasting Station, it was all right. Probably much more fun for those who are studying journalism etc. Then we partied the rest of the night. Saturday: met up with Stína and shopped shopped shopped... then PARTIED PARTIED PARTIED!!! Holy crap!
So, Akureyri city, here I am. Ready to take on anything that gets in my way.
cheers!

What a lecture we had today....
So today there was a lecture about drug-use in Akureyri. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Akureyri, have drugs been on the top of discussion when Akureyri is mentioned.Today, we were so lucky to get a spokesman from the office of the Sýslumann, which can roughly be translated to the office of the town "sheriff". Well, he came to the University and gave a lecture about drugs, what drugs were, how drug users have a "disease" and how we should fight that "disease". Now, listening to this lecture were quite a few people who I know are in AA. They were not too keen on hearing that drug users had a disease. Rather, that the drugs brought about them an addiction, if I understood correctly.
The speaker also said how cannabis was less harmful than harder drugs, and that this was scientifically proven. He also said that children found with alcohol under the legal age are unaplicable to punishment. Then the genious also pointed out that those who start using drugs use them before they use alcohol, and that kids these days have a hard time finding alcohol.
For the record, this is complete bullshit.
As many of us have tried cannabis, some of us liked it, some of us did not. Out of most of the people who have tried cannabis, I believe they have tried alcohol before lighting up the pipe. On the other note, for those people who have gone into harder drugs, they did not start off using the harder drugs, but was cannabis the so called "gate-way" drug to those other drugs. For the record, the speaker did not know what I was talking about when I mention that cannabis was a "gate-way" drug. Don´t get me wrong, I´m not saying that all people who use cannabis are lead to other drugs, but those who have gone to use harder drugs usually do so by first using cannabis. Then in my opinion when one speaks of as drugs being a bad thing (as the speaker did), I do not believe one can say that cannabis is not as bad as other drugs, for it often leads from one to the other.
Now, because cannabis is illegal, I also criticize the speaker for saying that one drug is less harmful than another drug. Who is he to decided that. Would cannabis be legal, I would accept that statement from him, but whereas it is not, I think it was a very unprofessional thing for a man with his status to say.
I also want to make a remark about how he dealt with alcohol. "Now, I´m sure we all had a taste of alcohol before we were the age of 18." Wow, what a role-model. Way to respect the laws of the land.
That´s all I have to say of the matter.

pictures anyone?

Here are some pictures that were taken this Christmas. As we can see... we have great fun with the camera, and my inhaler. I´m glad you all can laugh at my handicap!
Well, this weekend was fun. I guess I´ll say that my reason for celebrating Thursday, Friday and Saturday was because I just finished a course and am waiting for my next one, Anna´s birthday party was this weekend, and because I had some chatting that needed to be done with several friends. Does that cut it??? Well, it´s just a good thing that I wasn´t "under the influence" yesterday... cuz I had some laundry that I had to do today (and God knows we don´t want to do it hungover!!!)
I may be going to see a movie tonight. We´ll see if that pulls through.
So... next weekend is the annual school "field trip" to Reykjavík!!! WOOOHHOOOO!!! It´s going to be so much fun! Can´t wait to get my update on the life in the big city. Stína will see to that. Speaking of the trip, I have to make the songbook that will be sung over and over and over again on the bus, in the hotel, and quite possibly downtown... so I better get on that.
I´M ON IT... I´M ON IT...
SHE ON IT... SHE ON IT...!!!!!
LOVE YOU ALL!
Hildur dirty dancing and humping the floor with my thong completely sticking out, while my girlfriend watches!!! HAHAHA! (ok, only several people are gonna get that, but it´s DAMN funny!)

the weekend was brilliant!
This weekend was crazy!! Crazy, crazy and a little bit more crazy. My voice has definitly disappeared from my throught, and I just finished writing my presentation. Let's just hope it goes well tomorrow.
So, the rents are going to Jamaica tomorrow... I told them Akureyri in January is to die for. They didn't buy it and decided to rather go to Jamaica. Tell me there's something wrong with the picture ;)
I STILL haven't gone skiing here in Akureyri yet. There's something definitly wrong with that picture. I have to get my ass up on that mountain!! So, I have come to the conclusion that I am a slob. My stuff is all over the place! Good times.
OH, by the way... I started jazz-ballet last week! Yep, out of all the girls in there, I do believe I am the only one that looks like a football player in a dance class. I am so darn stiff!!! ah ha ha ha!!!!
AT LEAST I'M NOT DOING SPARKLES LIKE LEAH!!!!

In the newpaper 'Fréttablaðið' today was a column about Arwin Miewes, a German man who admitted to eating a fellow man. Miewes advertised for an man who he could slaughter and eat. Surprisingly, a man named Brandes answered his advertisement, and just like his advertisement ready, they performed.
Miewes was found guilty of manslaughter, but now the case is to be retried, whereas the other side wants to say that it was murder.
Arwin Miewes. I will never forget that name. An interesting case that we reviewed in my 'Civil Law' course.

Yeps, Stína and I had the best time there! I still get butterflies in my stomach when I think about it. It was seriously one of the best times in my life. Seriously.

when does the press start to feel the pressure?
Anna, of course the wickedy burg of William is not functioning right as of our departure! Was anything else in the picture?
As to answer some questions, I had a blast at the concert! THANK YOU VALA FOR GETTING ME A TICKET!
So Iceland has been in an uproar today because of events that happened yesterday. One newspaper in Iceland, known for overexploiting personal information and pictures, reported yesterday on the front page that a "Onehanded teacher guilty of child mollestation" (I do not have the article in front of me at the moment, but do believe it sounded something like that). Along with that GINORMOUS heading, was a picture of this man. Now, why is this so disturbing??
First of all...
- The man was not found guilty. Not only was he not found guilty, but THIS "CASE" WAS JUST IN THE EARLY STAGES OF INVESTIGATION! The newspaper printed that he was guilty before having any sort of trial. Why would a newspaper write something so false? The word GUILTY could have been replaced by so many other CORRECT words. Then you have to start wondering why the hell is this newspaper writing about something they don´t have a bloody clue about. They say a man is guilty of mollestation pre-trial. Innocent until proven guilty. Is that not how a well established country function? It's like DV is willing to print any ole bullshit, false or true, that it hears. 30 steps too far.
Second of all...
- The man commited suicide after having seen the newpaper. Is his suicide connected to the adverse article in the newspaper? Yes, that is my opinion. Did he leave a suicide letter saying he was innocent. Yes he did. Will he ever be able to testify to argue his case? NO.
DV is a shabby newspaper that either needs to halt its publishing, or do a complete 360 in it's news writing.
Because of a preposterous newspaper, a sad and premature death was the result for one man.

What more can I say. I am here in Akureyri now. I flew into Iceland Saturday morning, went to the Hættu! concert with Stína and then Vala. Then Valsý and I went to the famous and dazzeling downtown Reykjavík. Oh how Terrentino had his facts right. HAHAH KIDDING!
So, just so that we have it straight, I had a splendid time in Williamsburg. Thanks everyone!!
First day back in school went by fast. We went around the classroom and introduced ourselves. We´re so professional.

Well, I'm starting to feel guilty because i'm not writing as often as I have in the past... but along with the lazyness comes a hatrid of computers. I don't know what it is... but I just really despise being on the computer... takes up too much of my valuable time. I guess it has a lot to do also with the fact that the computer that I usually use is in my fathers study.... which is SWAMPED with little allergy causing particles.... and I usually choke in there... cough cough cough... but anyways...
Well, Vala just told me that I can watch the Icelandic Bachelor on the internet... got to go...

and here I am...
howdiehooooo!!!
It's Sunday. Sunday sunday sunday. I've almost been in the States for a week. Let's recount what I have done so far.
1. Read a book (Synir Duftsins... yes Stína, a real book)
2. Took Týra (the little dog) twice to Colonial Williamsburg for a walk
3. Watched 5 of Einar´s soccer games.
4. Gone to buy coffee at either Aroma´s og Starbucks.
5. Gone once in the hot-tub at my house.
As everyone will be able to derive, I have not done jackshit here. AND that´s the way I like it. I´m not going to work, worry or fuss. I´m just gonna be, and enjoy being.

fullveldisdagur -> 1.des
Wow... so definitly did not get any posts on that last blog. I thought people would be more interested in the case... guess not :)
So, today and tomorrow.... AND THEN I'M DONE!!! There's no school today so I get to study study study. Today is Fullveldisdagur, Iceland's "independence" day is today. On Dec. 1, 1918, Iceland got rule over matters going on in Iceland from Denmark, but still stayed under the same crown as Denmark. Iceland didn't get total independence until 17. June 1944... but today is a festive day also. I think Icelanders like to celebrate a lot of things during the winter time because it's so dark here, and so people won't get sad... :)
SO EVERYONE SMILE!!!
Well, I have to go study... study study study for my test tomorrow... and then DONE!!!
XOXO

a tint of lawyer shining through...
Rightyó,
So Saddam Hussein has been talking shit in court these past days... not happy about the treatment that he has been getting. I don´t believe the shiites in Dujail were happy about getting killed either.
No but on the more serious note, should those who are awaiting trial not be treated as innocent? Innocent until proven guilty? This is a mentality that we sould all like to believe that we follow, but how many of us feel that way towards Saddam Hussein. Should he be treated with the same "respect" or innocence as anyone else awaiting trial? Innocent until proven guilty. According to law, he has not yet been proven guilty, and therefore should be considered innocent. Is the treatment he´s getting now according to this mentality?
Not many people follow the case enough to be able to say what is innocent and what is not. They post a guilty sign on him from the beginning without even really understanding the arguments of both sides. Isn´t that a bit naive?
Saddam Hussein is said to have done a lot of bad things, but I believe that people should have all the information before they form their opinion. Listen and "understand" the argument of the defense. If one does this, one will be able to argue their opinion of the case.
I therefore encourage everyone to pay attention to the Sadam Hussein case, try to follow foreign news rather than US news... this is probably the biggest case of the decade, FOLLOW it, UNDERSTAND it and FORM AN OPINION on it.

Are women to blame for rape?

I was very disturbed this morning when I was reading an article on the internet site timesonline.co.uk. The heading of the article: Women still held to blame for rape. There was a poll of more than 1000 individuals, both men and women, taken to see what they thought about who was to blame for rape. An astounding amout of people thought that if a woman was flirting with a man, she was responsible for the downfall. If a woman was drunk, she was responsible for her downfall. If a woman was wearing sexy and/or revealing clothing, she was responsible for her downfall. This can all be seen on the chart that I have but above.
Now tell me, we are living in a society where women and men are trying to stand side by side as equal beings. If we are doing that, how in the world can a woman who is going out to have a good time be responsible for her rape? She may be wearing sexy clothing, yes, but does that mean that anyone can crawl up on her, do their deed and leave her laying there in disgust? NO. A woman who goes out looking sexy is not wearing a sign on her head saying "PLEASE TAKE AWAY ALL THE DIGNITY THAT I HAVE. RAPE ME." Maybe looking for sex, yes, but not rape.
It's crazy to think that with all that we women have gone through, we cannot stand strong together to fight those who say rape is the woman's fault. When did women become walking sex toys for men? THEY NEVER DID, so why are people trying to say that a woman "asked for it?" That's crazy. I think it's crazy. Those who disagree, let me hear it.

a couple of lines...

Björk is 40+ 1 day old today. That is to say, her birthday was yesterday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
So, things in Akureyri are going all right... I was about to explode yesterday though. Frustration was overwhelming me and the drama queen let her light shine... just ask my father. But, I just have to think where i´ll be 2 weeks from now, and then a smile appears on my face. I CANNOT WAIT!
So, European Law is not really going as well as I would like... :( SO, if anyone finds European Law for Dummies at Barnes and Noble, please let me know!!!
My frustration made me swim 2 km. yesterday... maybe there´s something good coming from it...
NATHAN, an exchange student here from Indiana leaves on Monday!!! MAN OH MAN! My Americano is leaving... i´m a lonely "almost" American in Akureyri...

THE TIME OF LOVE
You're on twelve
I'm on six
As each moment goes by
you take a single step forward.
I await in anxiety
excitement to be with you
The feeling intenses as
you approach with the same speed.
Finally at half past we become one,
a single mark, a radius of a circle.
But with each moment as before
you pass after the same time
as the minute mark before.
You leave me, excitement over.
It took me half a lifetime to
get you for a minute
and a minute
to lose you forever

oh how life laughs at me...
Life in Akureyri is rediculous!
Because I have fallen on my ass so many times, I walk the streets of Akureyri like a 70 year old woman. I take baby steps, with my hands out like an airplane to balance myself, and hunch forward so that my big ass computer backpack won´t pull me backwards.
All I gotsta say is... come on now...

Life, or something like it...

On Friday I was walking to school in my new Timberland boots, feeling pretty awesome to have Timbs and walking in them in actual weather where they are needed. It had snowed the night before, but there was just a small small amount of it on the icerink that I call the parking lot outside my aparment house. Well, I'm walking, very carefully when I almost reach the snowcovered grass BUT NO... SWOOOOOSHHHHHH Hildur falls on her ass! Not just falls, but flies! And yes, of course the first thing one does is chuckle and make sure noone saw. Too bad there were like 10 cars driving by when I fell, so I jumped up, dusted myself off and made my way to school. Secretly smiling, I listen to my ipod mini, being incredibly CAREFUL to not humiliate myself like I did 2 minutes before. So I'm walking to school, about to walk up the hill to the school... when SWWOOOOOOSSSHHHHH(fuck)HHHHH, BAMMMMMMMM!!! I fall on my damn swollen ass again! Is there a God and if yes, why is he making me humiliate myself like this?!?! haha! This time there were like 20 cars driving by, and we must remember that I fall right by the school so there were definitly some students driving by. ONE car happened to have one of my teachers in it, AND SHE JUST STARED AT ME!!! haha, don't smile and laugh with me... wahhhh! :( But, things started looking up when an old man in a white car stopped and asked me if I wanted a ride up to the University. Very sheepishly I said yes, tried to act all cool in the car because he saw me fly on my ass, and thanked him for driving me 30sec to the school.
I had the confidence of a mouse in an alley of cats that day.
My friends laughed a lot that day.
My ass still hurts today.

Busy day Gestern!
So, yesterday was quite a busy day. There was a seminar yesterday about self-determination and the right of peoples to it. Speakers from Iceland, Faroe Islands, a very nice looking young man from Greenland, a professor from Ireland were there informing us about self determination, and whether the Faroe Islands should be independent, whether Greenland should be independent, telling us about East Timor´s brutal fight for self-determination and Irelands nightmare history. Is it not a little strange how massacres happen all over the world but people are so slow to find out and react? I think that´s a little interesting.
Did you know that the part of Greenland that is not covered with ice is as big as France? Crazy, eh?
So yesterday the student council of the law department here in the University of Akureyri handed a requisition to the minister of education, as I mentioned below, at Akureyri airport. She took the requisition very well, talked to us a little bit, and then left to go to a meeting with the University Big Guys. It´ll be interesting to see how and what comes out of the meeting... whether a masters program in law will be tought here, and if not, how will we protest! :oO
Aight, Leah... I´ll write you an email soon...

Einar Karl is 15 years old today!!!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! AW, look how cute he is! Yeps, that´s my brother... we now know where he gets his good looks, eh? Yes, yes, I know, it´s hard being me, but... :) He´s flying home from Florida today, so I´ll have to call the little birthday boy up LATA!!!!!! (so happy in that picture!!!)
Not much going on today... I go coach later on, may go to a meeting, although I do believe it´s pushed back till tomorrow. I will most likely have more juicy news tomorrow, where as the Secretary of Education/ Minister of Education is coming to Akureyri tomorrow to talk about the future of e.g. the law department here. So, wish us law students luck!!!

Is it all SO NECESSARY?!?
For those who know, I am a member of AOL. For those who don't know, AOL mean American Online, similar to hotmail or yahoo. When I logmyself onto my aol page, I am always confronted with news headlines that are so obviously written to get the public's attention... President Bush ready for fatal virus, American under threat, More bombs in Iraq, 15 Soldiers Killed, Moving up from code Orange to code RED... I think you get my flow. Anyways, I know most people have seen farenheit 911, and this is going to sound a little in the same direction, but why all the threats, stress and fear in the news? It's like I can't even log onto aol to read my mail WITHOUT being bombarded with news headlines basically telling me, or scaring me into thinking how I'm going to die. What a pleasant pleasant thought. hmm... don't you agree? Fear has always been used as a persuasive tactic though, which is natural if you want to get the attention of the public, BUT EVERY DAMN NEWS HEADLINE has an aim of scaring it's readers. Now people all over the US are going to be scared and panicked over the bird flu that has not reached them yet. Hey, Mr. Bush, what about all the homeless people living on the streets that that $7.1 billion dollars could go into helping? What about the thousands of HIV positive children that are suffering because there is no money to pay for their medication? What about the environment... the environment that probably has the answer to our illnesses, but we don't hear those answers because we're too busy KILLING it?!?
I do not disagree that a deadly flu would be, well, deadly. It is said to be on the top of things that could hurt us. But, is all the fear, threat, and taunting really necessary? Is it all so necessary?

Ég þori, get og vil!
Yesterday I was surprisingly pleased to be a witness of "all" the women in Akureyri coming together and protesting for womens rights. Yesterday had 30 years past from when women in Iceland walked out of their workplaces at 14:08 and met together to protest the wage difference between the sexes. The women of Akureyri all met in Sjallinn, which was so full that people had to stand outside and listen to the speaches that were taking place inside. Women came together and listened to their history, a history that has changed some, but not enough. While there is still a difference of how much two individuals who have the same exact education but different wage is going on, we really need to reconsider out outlook on life. Do we as women think of ourselves as being less? Do we feel that it is fair that a man, who does not have the same education as you, will move up faster and in the workplace? This is crooked to me, and should be to all people. Women have been fighting for their rights for many years, and we should not take for granted what they have accomplished... so if you are being discriminated because of your gender, make some noise and sue the bastards :)

A little of my "Life´s ThEoRy..."
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
These words, coming from the magical wonders of the screen, should be admired and followed. Why is it that in our day in age, we forget what it is that we are living for? We are always thinking about what we could have done better, how we wish we could go back and change it, what we would have done different. Can you imagine all the time that gets wasted on thoughts that irreversable? Why do we linger on these things?
To live is smile, cry, laugh, love, pick yourself up after plummiting off a cliff of disappointment. Though not always easy, we manage to keep going and look for the next thing to come. Those that do not, those that regret and sulk about what has happened in their lives, are not living at all. We may dream of things from our past, dream of things that would make our lives "easier", but one must not get caught in a dream that stops you from living and enjoying every minute of your life.
Dreams are great, keep us motivated and striving to be more than what we are... but to live...

Richmond is for Lovers
Yes yes yes, i'm still alive here... no worries. I've spent the last two evenings in Richmond. On Thursday I went to meet up with the girls at Gabes house... saw the Richmonders there. Always a pleasure. We went to eat at this Italian place which was pretty good. Leah took bloody forever to decide what she wanted, ended up with rock paper scissors. She also told us how very smart she was and that her vocabulary is very advanced. She even gets a word of the day sent to her BOTH from Webster.com and some other dictionary... forget. How fun it must be to be an English major. :) Anna also enlightened us how her freezer and fridge situation did totally not work out this week. Drama in the house. All the roomates went shopping at the same time, and there was just mountains and mountains of food in the freezer and you couldn't find anything!!! Lifestyle of the rich and the famous. JUST KIDDING! We all came to the conclusion that we are grocerie snobs and don't like foodlion brands. eh... it happens. :)
Last night I went to Richmond with my brother and his friends. We stayed at Cliff-dawgs! We hung out at his place for a while, went to the basement to jamm a little, until I picked up the guitar and everyone left... hmm? Is it a sign?? After being so rudely left alone in the basement... we went to a VCU party. It was pretty lame... guess i'm not used to the jist of college parties here yet. I thought they were growing on me this summer... but I guess it's different if you don't know anyone ;) possibility? yea. It was kinda funny though cuz Danny and Claire and Hugh were all freestylin and people kept coming up to them trying to take them on, but they were NOTHING compared to them! TAHAH!
So I head home tomorrow... a bit excited to see some people in Akureyri! I already spent today shopping for basically everyone BUT myself. How lame. No, but i do it for the peeps that i luv!
Well, maybe I'll write later, maybe I won't.

day # 1 in USA
Righty-ó...
So, I´m safe and sound in my parents home after a long trip to the USofA! Lovely, absolutely lovely to be back. Today we woke up at 5.30 in the morning to get ready to go to the immigration office, SO EARLY! We were there, till about 10.30 or so. Long day, especially if you have a little brother, who´s not so little anymore, but has the blabbering mouth of a 5 year old... and another brother who laughs at all he says, and me, the sister, who loves to play stupid little games while waiting and LAUGHING her ass off. Yea, our parents decided to sit somewhere else. ;) But... they people were nice there... started say things like... "how you doing girl?" "what a nice picture girl!" and "what numba was ya mamma girl?". haha. fun times.
Then my mum and I went to get something to eat, some lunch, and we chatted and laughed and had a ball...! SO good to be home for a little bit!
My dogs are doing super... always have to say something about them... my babies! Sable has lost weight and Týra is still as cute as ever... in case anyone cares :)
UGH, i´m so pissed! I took pictures of the Sprellmót... BUT most of my pictures are out of focus!!! DAMN! stupid camera stupid camera.... (notice how i blame the camera, not the photographer... clever)
LEAH, I´LL CALL YOU IN A LITTLE BIT! ;)
loves yas!

USA HERE I COME!!! On Tuesday I will be heading to big ol Williamsburg, so my peeps from Willy.... throw some Naty in the fridge and get ready to hang out at Aroma's for hours! MaN oh mAn am I excit-ed!!
Sprellmótið on Friday was a blast! KUMPÁNI got second place... I kicked ass in the beer-bong competition... i thank Leifur for my SkIlLs! Those many summer nights when we would be seeing if little Hildur could actually do more than 5.... hmmm?!?
I´m going to Reykjavík tomorrow.... Stína... here I come! I´ll be staying with "my sistah" Friðdóra, and man are we gonna celebrate my passing Íslensk Réttarsaga. Good times good times.
I just watched Jeepers Creepers 2 tonight. I don´t understand why someone would make a shitty sequal. It wasn´t THAT bad, but it was just terrible how almost the entire movie was set on a school bus, and the entire story took place in one night. hmm? I don´t know, I thought it would be better...
OH WELL.... :)
I´M SO EXCITED!!!!

And the ex´s finally meet again
So, the warm-up for Sprellmótið was this Friday. A lot of people came: very good! The town was full of university students since both the social science and legal department, and the faculty of health sciences were both doing something to warm up for the Sprellmót. The red head found her long lost friend who has been cooped up in Drekagil with a cold... and gave her some gold fizzing elixer... aka beer. Always a pleasure. So, the ex-roommates finally hung out downtown... after a summer of silence ;)

- "And what do you think of the Icelandic boys?"
- "They´re frozen."
This question was directed to an exchange student here at HA on the trip on Saturday. Frozen. Hmm, what... when you kiss them it´s like you stick your tounge on a frosted pole, you get stuck and impossible to get away unless you rip yourself off? Interesting.
Wouldn´t that suck though if you were kissing a guy, need to gasp for some air and... woop... you´re stuck! You can´t get off him. What a conniving trick! So, when someone says you´re cold as ice, that really means that they just can´t get enough of you... The world is so much clearer now!
What single word can a girl say to get a guy to think about sex in a milisecond?
- "Hello."
Not much more needed than that.
What a great world we live in :)

snow, moss and a little comedy

aight... the trip to the country was fly... christmas snow and all... hljóðklettar was gorgeous! Pictures will come in later... nature+ beer+ hotdogs+ guitar= ONE HELL OF A TIME.
So yea, it's still snowing here... it's been snowing nonstop for what feels like A WEEK! Kræstnes! Very very rómó though...
I still haven´t heard anything about my hot-diggity test... pff, surprise surprise... (probably didn´t pass)
Kate Moss appologized to her family for her whole coke abuse thing... and who said it´s so good to be famous? I would never want to be famous. My little life is all I need. I don´t need people snooping around me trying to get some fake information out of me and publishing all the bullshit I say. What good lives we all live. Some people on the other hand think it´s AWESOME to be famous or know someone of that class. Those are the type of people that would sleep with a star... just because they´re famous. Colin Farrell anyone? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! wicked wicked wicked. ;)

--- musical weekend ---
I love postcards! Leah has already sent me 2 postcards! All from the beautiful island of Jamestown, Virginia. People don't take the time anymore and send postcards... so when you finally get one, it's like the first time you ever got an email! Wonderful.
Anyways, I saw Bubbi on Thursday. WONDERFUL! He is such a great musician. I wish more people were musicians. It's like people can communicate so much better through songs, whether it's through the text, the force of the song, or the melody, people can express such different emotions. Writing songs and poems for example often seems to be a kind of therapy for people. Bubbi has definitely used his music to get away from his crazy life. I went with Sólveig, she teared up a couple of times ;) It was beautiful.
Stuðmenn were playing on Friday. That was a free-be because domus I think it was, opened their offices that day here in Akureyri. It was a blast... a lot of uni-people there. I mean, come on, IT WAS FREE! Good times.
I have to study now, a busy weekend equals HEAVY studying.

and the nEiGhBouR gets angry
Why is it that the United States, the country that holds the worlds millionairs, NO billionairs, was unable to help a massive area from devistation when in need? I talked to my mum today and she was telling me how this one man from California filled up his airplane with water and supplies, and took it to New Orleans, taking some families with children back with him to CA. Where are the rest of those types of people. I know he´s not the only one who has a private jet in the US of A. I know it´s maybe wrong of me to put the pressure on American´s, but it is the duty of those who have more (this is at least my opinion) to give more. Especially in a time of need... people need help there and the weight is only shifted onto the military? Whatever happened to brotherly love, oh stupid me... we´re not talking of Philadelphia.
No but seriously, do people care about their neighbours like they tell ya in Bible Class?
AND WHERE THE HELL WAS BUSH?!?!?!?
Now that is the question of the century, where the fuck was that red neck?

A response to Leah´s comment ;)
HEHE, yea they call that a millipede... i do believe so yes. Here in Iceland we do not have that problem because it´s so fucking cold here ALREADY!! Yes, believe it or not, but the mountains already have snow on them and it´s chilly chilly chilly. Not good stuff. But hey, no damn bugs, that´s for sure... except for Fred, he´s my pet fly that I keep stuffed on my windowsill. Well, actually it´s not stuffed, just dead. But, he keeps me company when I´m studying, doesn´t make any noise except when I blow at him and the wind coming out of my mouth makes his wings rustle a little bit. Then when I get lonely, I pretend he´s Leah or Anna, and I talk talk talk talk talk. Yeps, no more calls to the US of A... just little talks with my pet fly. Gotta love it.
