Pop Stars?

So, yesterday I was hanging out at my brothers place and had this conversation with one of my friends... are there any non "pop-star" girls. Like, we have Avril Lavigne who tries to be all hard core and rebel-y, but is she not just playing into the pop world under that image? The producers and all those important guys maybe try to make these talented young people different from the rest, but they always fall under the same categorie as say Christina Aguillera, Brittany Spears and the rest of those "talented" bimbo's who shake their ass's and lip sing during concerts. So... what i'm trying to say is that groups like Metallica, Sigur Rós and the rest of those hard core cool bands don´t face the same opsticals as the girls in their little girl bands do. Either girls have to have the looks or... have the looks... or, um.... have the looks, to make it in this world today to be famouse. This I think kind of sucks because there is probably a ton of great talent out there that does not get to be expressed just because the poor girls do not look the part.
