The homecoming

I have news... BIG news... my man Óli´s back.

Yes, for those of you who thought I would be a spinster for life, I proved you wrong. My man has come home and it didn´t take too long. You will no longer see this sad and confused face, the face that´s been waiting and longing....

Some of you don´t know Óli. Óli is a head. Only a head. I will tell you a story about Óli, one that touches the heart. You see, we are both x-swimmers and we met in Iceland, Sundhöll Reykjavíkur to be exact. I first spotted him when he was getting ready for a big event. He was getting ready to swim the 50 m. freestyle. His coach helped him with his yellow swim cap, put on his goggles, carried him to the starting block and when that gun went off he lightly kicked him off the block into the pool. AND OFF HE WENT!!! Óli, man, HE was soooooo fast and REALLY kicked ass! He took the flipturn like no other and swam like a rocket back but before he finished, HE STARTED SINKING! I was like, "OH NO! ÓLI!!!" His coach jumped into the pool and got him. He was all right when he came up, he was quite out of breath and was panting. When his coach asked him... "Óli, what happened?!" Óli replied... "MY EARS JUST GOT SO TIRED!"

As I said... Óli is just a head.

And we have the greatest time. I love my Óli.

I feed my guy too, obvious reason being that he has no hands, but still, so romantic! MAN, we have such a good time together! I want to take this chance to point out the fantastic fruit bowl on the table. That is a masterpiece that the one and only Hildur Sólveig made... just wanted to point that out ;) Good old ceramics class;)

It started snowing today here in Akureyri. This little lady had not picked up her man yet, so I had to change my tires all by myself. Yes, the "nails" are on. Did I mention THAT I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF? I am still waiting for my golden star to arrive for the good job I did. Yeps, still waiting... Sara helped a little bit, dragged one or two tires into the house. ;) But yes, Óli loves the snow! He insisted that I take a picture of him in the snow. He´s such a silly silly guy... ;)

No more sad faces... just happy ones!
It didn´t take long for me to find my man...
I JUST HAD TO MAKE HIM! hahaha!

færslan hennar Solveigar Friðu

- I have a best friend who lives in Denmark.
- Her name is Sólveig Fríða Kjærnested.
- Her man´s name is Tryggvi Guðjón Ingason and I often call him Trausti. He doesn´t think it´s funny, neither do I. It just has something to do with the Tr. Sometimes I mix up names if they begin the same. Like Hörður and Hjörtur. They don´t really begin the same but I mix them up nonetheless.

- Sólveig Fríða and Tryggvi have a beautiful little baby girl whose name is Ásdís Sólveig. They really wanted to name her Hildur Sólveig but I said "guys, come on, I´m an independent person, and I want her to be that too. Don´t name her after someone, let her be her own self." They went half way and half named her after me. Just me. Not after Sólveig Fríða, not after Sólveig mum whose name is Sólveig, and not after Sólveig Fríða´s grandmother whose name is Sólveig. Just after me. ;)
- Sólveig Fríða and Tryggvi and little Hildur, ehm... Ásdís Sólveig, are greatly missed, dearly missed, terribly missed.
- This is an ode to them.

Hail Sólveig Fríða and Tryggvi and tons of hugs and kisses!!!

These words of wisdom were written my first year here in Akureyri sometime when Sólveig and I were at a coffee house. She was ALWAYS and is ALWAYS on the phone. But being together and enjoying each other´s company is the main thing.

Hello, I love you wont you tell me your name...

I think I should just stop while I’m ahead. My name is Hildur Sólveig and I´m a 22 year old lass that has hip problems. Today it is the left side of my hip. It needs to pop into place, pop out of place or just rest… I don’t know, and I don’t care…. I shouldn’t have to deal with a weird hip. My friend Birna told me to do like Barry Manilow and just get a new one. Who knows, when I am rich I may just have to do that. I would however like to point out the fact that Barry Manelo is old (er) and I am young (er). This is just not fair.

This is him after his hip surgery... what a happy camper!!!

I am sometimes lazy when it comes to sitting in front of my computer and putting my thoughts into words. I will make no excuses. I love you all. ;)

My friend Pálína came to Akureyri this weekend and Pálína, Eva Björk and myself had a blast. We went to a coffee house, got invited to a Polish (I think) party-table, hung out cozy style at my place, went partying and danced our tooschies off, went on a road trip to Mývatn and ate dinner together twice! We had fun. We are fun. Look up fun in the dictionary and you will see this picture.

Me, Pálína and Eva Björk

My ceramics class has finished and now I can go to Punkturinn whenever I want to be crafty. I showed my brother Árni some of my masterpieces via the camera on my computer and he laughed. Stupid fool, now he can rest assured that he WILL get something hand-made for Christmas. You shouldn’t have laughed brother.

I really want to go visit my grandparents soon. Maybe I will just leave one Thursday and spend a long weekend there. That would be fantastic. Grams and gramps are missed.

Welp, I have to get going. Hope you all enjoyed my little post. Remember the words of wisdom at the end of the post.

Adventure Weekend

Rightyó! Well about time I write something down here. That won´t be a problem since I had a WONDERFUL weekend. Friday was a lazy day, recooperating after a 70% exam in Tort Law. On Saturday Sara, Frej and Assar (za Swedes) and I went on a road trip to Mývatn. We were going to try to go to a natural hot spring hidden in a crater, but since it was snowy we didn´t think climbing down a crater was a very good idea ;) Therefore we went to the Mývatn lagoon and stayed there for a couple hours. Haha! Talk about a stary sky! Unbelievable, barely a spot in the black sky that wasn´t covered with salt grain. Beautiful.

Today was pretty cozy, drank coffee, talked to Sólveig Fríða, talked to gramms, looked for international organizations in Africa, did some crosswords and relaxed. Then Sara and I went for a walk in a forest in Akureyri, Kjarnaskógur. Veeerrryyy nice. Got pretty dark while we were there, almost lost my phone bt had a great little walk. Here are some pictures from the weekend.
