Dope in Akureyri

So, I heard something interesting yesterday night when I was listening to the news. Like I have told you guys, and some of you may know, the teachers in Iceland are on strike. One news reporter was talking to the principal or some guy here in Akureyri, and the principal was saying that this wasn´t a very good thing. It happens to be that drugs are a big problem here in Akureyri, where as children around the age of 11-12 were "caught" with drugs in their system!! I´m sorry, you all know that i am very liberal when it comes to this type of stuff, BUT THAT IS DAMN YOUNG! Do kids these days seriously have nothing better to do then to get high? What the hell is happening to Iceland? I find this rediculous and just straight up sad. Not Wah Wah sad but pathetic. Jesus! It´s a different thing when you´re older... i´m not going down on all my peeps you know, but kids in Iceland when they are 11-12 are still just little shrimps. They ain´t swimmin with the big dawgs yet. It´s sorry. Ah, now that i have that off my chest, "lets talk about politics!" :) oh the humour the humour. I took a quiz today on aol which was to "show" you which politician you agree with most. I think I had like 95% Kerry and 5% Bush. DAMN THOSE 5%!!! I must not have understood that question! ;) Talking about not understanding shi-it.... I´m reading a crazy book in Law about um.... I don´t know something in Icelandic, and I think that´s about all I can say about it! I am major slow at reading it and about to flip! I tried even to call my dad yesterday to complain, but regretfully (for me) no one answered (good for him!). Haha, i´ll try to survive though. It´s just that i´m not so patient. ooop... do i hear some wahing? None of that tonight, just coffee, library, cigarettes (not me) and a bloody book to keep my night... um.... happy :oþ
Lovely!

Ms. Wah wah wah girl

Yes! Score! Hell Yea! ah, i had to get that out. I just sent my exam to my Sicilian sexy professor! thank god that shit is over! now it's just beer beer beer beer beer tonight... since i didn't have any last night, psh yea right! oh my God talk about a hallarious night! well, all yesterday till about 16:30, I was up at the library writing my exam. Then I left and went to Cafe Amour to drink 2 beers. Yea, talk about lame ass people in my class who don't get off their ass's and join the crowd! I don't understand why people with no obligations can not join the crowd for once!?!? ah, anyways, then we went out to eat, La Vida et Bella. Muy deliciose! Then, we back to the library. Joy. But, no worries, we didn't last that long. Sara, who had decided to "study" at home, called after her nap. She came and picked us up and we went to Kaffi Akureyri. You know what, I haven't had this much fun in Akureyri since I came here! I was like flippin out! Dancin, singin, just enjoying the shit out of myself. Then when they were closing we left and were trying to find an afterparty. You know what? There are sometimes just times when you should just really go home. That's what we all should have done... just gone home... but no no no. Dan the Dane was trying to go home with Sara, who has a boyfriend, Norwegian girl trying to desperatly get with Davíð, everybody yelling at everybody.... except for me, who decided to tackle the mountain of a hill to get home. Damn Hills! they kill me sometimes. And then of course the whole "why don´t i have a boyfriend... wah wah wha.... why does no one like me.... wah wah wah....." by the way, that´s me. I´m the wah girl. it´s rediculouse. gotta love it. :) Well Sara´s birthday tonight, we´re going to cook us some borritos and good shit! and we´ll be flowing with beer too! Taha! Keep ya´ll posted!
cheers!

Legal Nerds

This law thing has definately started taking over our lives. I was outside smoking with my friends Davíð and Dagný, discussing our friend´s Sara´s birthday. And since we blew up a sex doll for Davíð (because he´s so desperate) :) he made a little joke about giving her a man sex doll. Then I started thinking of a cool name, but then he spurted out the name corpus. This has just gone too far. We've been in this program for 3 weeks, and we're already making stupid law jokes! What will we be like after 5 years? Jesus! And considering that my humour is a very lame one, all you, my friends who read this in the states, are going to be like, WHAT THE FUCK? Oh terrible terrible. At 5 we're meeting at Cafe Amour, the law department, to probably make some lame jokes, drink beer, and just be glad that our first session in hell is over. Haha, i went to the hot pot the other day after coaching, and guess who i saw? My sexy sicilian teacher in a little speedo! Shoot me. It was quite amusing though, he talked and talked and talked and i was just waiting for him to stop talking cuz i was starved and wanted to go eat something. There were some pounds that got left in the pot! Oh jesus, yesterday i saw that guy that i met when i went partying by myself in Akureyri. Eww, he kept looking my way and I was not having it, so I started listening to Dagný the feminist talking to Davíð and how women..... I don´t remember, I was too busy thinking about what i was going to say to listen. Haha, I´m like a man, can only do one thing at a time. Lovely. The primary school teachers here in Iceland are going on strike soon. Now tell me, why did my teachers never have strikes? These kids get like probably a couple weeks off! Insane! Teachers are always complaining about their salary. well, the government needs to do something... oh the politics of Iceland. So simplex, but not really. I really don´t know much about it, just that i think communism would work for all. VIVA CHE!

Cafe Carolina

All right, well that previous post was from last week just so ya'll know. As we speak, i'm sitting at a coffee house by the name of Caffé Karólína. It's a really nice hole in the middle of a hill, you know how Akureyri is... So, like usual, the stress of school is still on. The people in my class and I have come to the conclusion that we are going to be stressing every single week for 5 years. It'll be the best 5 years of my life, eh? Haha, i said eh the other day and i was asked if I was from Canada! i was like what? no! fooled him! haha.... such humour! I tell you, i have found the reason why i hang out at coffee houses all the time instead of going home.... I don't like being at home. My epipheny! (damn i hope that's spelled right) :) So yea, i'd rather just hang out here and hang out with my artsy self listening to some immensly annoying girls play cards. My card playing peeps... we were not like them! So yea, I have a really good friend here in Akureyri who goes by the name of Sólveig. I believe she saved me. Had we not met, i don't know what i would've done. I wish i had something fun and funny to say but, mmmm do i ever. Yea, poverty is starting to stike the country of Hildur Sólveig. It's terrible. Ohh, I'm going to start coaching again. yippee! 2 a week, 45 minutes. Then yesterday the "party-counsil" met. It's going to be a lot of fun! HOORAH! all right, i have to get studying... the story of my life... oh, one thing i've decided is that learning is fun. it's fun knowing more one day than you did the other. All right, Hildur's words of wisdom! Adios!

ROMAN LAW. The word i have started to dread is invading my life. I woke up this morning and the first thing that came to my mind was ius civile. how lovely. after being at the library til 2 o´clock last night reading for a test on friday, i rode my yellow bike home, only to find that after my 20 cups of coffee that i wasn´t tired. so therefore being on my caffeinne high, i hung out for like an hour waiting to doze off. At three i was successfull in my attempt, slept 4.5 hours and rode my ass to school, only to be in a class about how to use the internet library. ahhh, TIRED. So, i decide to blog. These weeks have been all right. Last Sunday Einar got confirmed! It was so cute! he is such a kid in my eyes, and then all of a sudden when he started walking down the church aisle, i got teary (since it is a damn wedding). I tell you, the nerves were definately going crazy that weekend. I had to say adios to the fam, which was a waterfall. Rediculousé.

Ta-Ka Þ-e-TT-a Til Ba-Ka

All right, so now i have so much stuff to tell ya´ll about. I am placed in Akureyri, came here last Tuesday, thought i was about to DIE!! Let´s start from the beginning...
Tuesday:
As i had slept too long after 3 hours of sleep, i realized i still had to get all my shit together at my aunt´s house and leave Reykjavík. It had been decided that i would take the bus there (good ol´ 5 hours) since that made the most sense. I had called the night before asking if there was any limit with luggage, telling the man on the phone that i had 2 giant trash bags, 2 suitcases, 2 rolley suitcases, 1 sports bag, 2 small boxes, 1 chair and 1 bike. I think the man on the phone definatly fell for my sexy but sweet voice, because he said that it should be no problem. Then, the morning of my day of departure, i show up 15 minutes before the bus is to leave with all that shit and a smile on my face. it is fairly obviouse that the man driving the bus was not the same gentleman who i talked to on the phone, because this guy was not happy. after he "tetris-ed" everything into the bus, he was more than pissed to realize that i still had a bike! Then came the "de-tetris-ing" of all the luggage in the bus only to stack it all back in a couple minutes later. ;) He didn´t look at me the entire way up to Akureyri. haha. Then when i got here i got a look at my room and i really liked it. then i ate dinner with my great-aunt and family and listened to the beautiful a-Kur-eyrís-Ka dialect. I couldn´t help but laugh a little inside of me. Then when i got home i walked around until i found a video store, rented some movies and went to bed.
Wednesday:
On this long day i finished preparing my room and went and hung at a coffee house for like 3 hours. I swear i had abso-fucking-lutely nothing to do! i was borred out of my bloody mind! but it´s nothing that a couple of high caffeined coffee drinks can´t fixed. :) Then i went again to the video store, visited my friend the video man, and rented 2 movies. What an exciting day in the life of Hildur.
Thursday:
I don´t really remember Thursday, except that i went to the pool and hung out, once again.... by myself. Not getting enough of myself, i took myself on a date to a coffee house. Grand.
Friday:
Yep, hung out once again at a coffee house. yeah! Then that night i went on my desperate attempt to make friends with the people they call Akureyríngar.

This species is quite sensitive to girls, specially ones with wannabe dreads and freckles. They eat hamburgers with fries inbetween the buns and are very proud of their coke in a bottle. Life span reaches 116 years for males and 180 years for females. from THE BOOK OF ICELANDIC PEOPLE
Since my description does not suit these sorts very well, the only person who ended up talking to me was an old drunk. YIPPEE! my lucky days just keep on coming. As this drunk was talking to me, i enticed him to buy me two Guinness´s. Yes Abby, you heard right, Guinness´s. mmm. Then in my sad state, i ditched the guy, went to my lovely coffee place, had 2 mojito´s, got piss drunk, went to a night sale where I of course ended up offending the poor guy serving me because i asked him if it wasn´t in Akureyri where they put Potatoe salad and... "potatoe salad and red cabbage... NO. it´s unbelievable how many people we get from the city who are always asking that question. what do they think we are?" Right ass hole. then i walked home... left my trail of french fries on the cars, until i realized that my french fries were good and i wanted to keep them all to myself... and as thinking this, stuffed handfulls into my mouth. Arriving at home i died in my bed. Lovely.
Saturday:
Probably rented some movies and did absolutely nothing.
Sunday:
Ahah, nothing again! Then I went to dinner at my aunts. Pleasant.
Well, I´ll write more about school and how it´s been later. If this bores you, then don´t read it... It´s long. All right, adios COMPADRES! best of wishes to everybody!

Back on the Klake

All right... so i´m back in Iceland now. The trip here was all right, except for the quick life flashing before my eyes ride "above" fierce winds when flying from Norfolk to Washington. I don´t understand why the captain is always like, "ehhh, we´re flying over a storm right now so it will be a little bumpy" while i´m sitting there grabbing onto whatever stable substance i could get. but, i had my cosmo so as i was reading 100 things guys want girls to do in bed, the bumpy ride was not all that bad. haha. but yea, it was sad saying bye to the family, always is. but, then there is something to look forward to. :) well, i got dreadlocks on thursday. they are twisties so it´ll take like 2 weeks for them to really set in. I can not wait for the madness to get all nappy and tight. on Friday, my last night in williamsburg, i siezed the day till 6 am, not wanting the next day to come. i hung out at arni´s and nathan´s, pestering all the people who were attempting to pass out. NONE OF THAT, BIATCH! but yea, it was fun and sad at the same time. Today i didn´t do much. After i got to Sólveig´s apartment, i went to the bakery and picked up some schisnit to eat. Then i was going to take like a 1 hour nap and all of a sudden I woke up at 5!! whua! my 1 hour nap turned into an 8 hour slumber. But that´s rest that was much needed. I just got back from Kofa Tómasar Frænda. I was there with Kólbeinn and Kristofer. It was sooooooo good to see them again! I really like those guys. They are so great, even though Kris was being a dick and talking to his cute friend without me. But, you gotta love the British Tea Biscut... because he´s british. I told Krazy K about my "meeting Collin Ferrell" story. He was like "why did you have duck tape on your face?" and i was like "does duck tape have to happen for a reason?" His thugness couldn´t come up with a snazy remark so he took it like a bitch. Bitch is the word now. Everytime i say it i think of Leah scrunching up her face saying "that´s Garfield Bitch!!!!!". Gotta love it! So, I am staying with my cousin and her boyfriend as i speak, and she´s studying for her final which is on Wednesday. Good timing Hildur. My bad. I think i´m going to try to go to Akureyri on Tuesday... whua Law School here I come. Hopefully it´ll be a blast. All right, i´ll blog when i have something more cool to say. Till then, "buy some cats!" cuz MC´s, I just wanna hang out. Peace.

THAT'S GARFIELD BITCH!

So... I haven't blogged in forever. That's what happens in the summer time though. Right, good excuse since i have been doing this for so long :p anyways, tonight was the "last night" that i got to hang out with Leah. It's so sad to realize that i'm not going to see her again until maybe Christmas! That goes along with the whole gang too! Man. It's really funny though, cuz Leah, Abby and I are all going to be starting a whole new "life" this fall. Abby up in Wisconsin, Leah at MW and I at Akureyri. CRAZY! But, that's what life is all about, making decisions, meeting people and just enjoying the moment. But seriously, i do not know what I had done had I not met up with Chris that day (as posted below) at the Cheese Shop. That just has made my whole summer. These cool cats are like the coolest people in Williamsburg! They are people with whom you can have real conversations with and who go to coffee houses every single night and never get borred with just hanging out. Seriously though, we have a coffee house addiction. I don't think we've skipped a night of coffee housing for a while except on maybe the weekends. Insane. There we talk about our inside jokes ("THAT'S GARFIELD BITCH!" and "GIVE ME SOME SCONES NOKKA" <- my way of spelling it :p) It's just so funny how things turn up. Like Leah and I weren't close at all in high school, but now it's like i don't know how i would have survived the summer without her. In conclusion: TO THE GANG I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SUMMER, THANK YOU!!!

Birthday Girl

Yippee!!! It's my birthday! 19 is definately not a very fun birthday though. There is nothing that special about 19. It's in between buying cigarettes and buying alcohol (when we are referring to Iceland). In the states, 19 is just not cool at all. It's unbelievable how time flies though. I still feel like my 17th birthday was 3 weeks ago... not 2 years ago. Hmmm, oh well, a year older a year wiser I do believe they say :) yea right... So, Silje and Kristin gave me this completely risky Corona bikini. Za boyz vill be druling zen. It was so great to see them again! I love those girls! Despite the short time that we got to hang out, we clicked together like 123. Oh, more exciting news is that we got a new puppy! A Yorkshire Terrior. She is soooo cute and tiny! We have no name yet, but i will keep ya'll posted with it. I still have no job, which is fine at the moment... but my bank account will be crying in a few days. Live today, worry tomorrow. Good saying eh? Today I went to meet Chris curler for lunch. He thought I wouldn't show up so therefore decided to start without me. Pfh! He was getting his ass kicked by the Cheese Shop. By the end of the day he'll probably have like 20 bumps on his head. Haha. It's all good though cuz he's going to find the secret ingredients in the Cheese Shop's house dressing. SCORE!!

Pop Stars?

So, yesterday I was hanging out at my brothers place and had this conversation with one of my friends... are there any non "pop-star" girls. Like, we have Avril Lavigne who tries to be all hard core and rebel-y, but is she not just playing into the pop world under that image? The producers and all those important guys maybe try to make these talented young people different from the rest, but they always fall under the same categorie as say Christina Aguillera, Brittany Spears and the rest of those "talented" bimbo's who shake their ass's and lip sing during concerts. So... what i'm trying to say is that groups like Metallica, Sigur Rós and the rest of those hard core cool bands don´t face the same opsticals as the girls in their little girl bands do. Either girls have to have the looks or... have the looks... or, um.... have the looks, to make it in this world today to be famouse. This I think kind of sucks because there is probably a ton of great talent out there that does not get to be expressed just because the poor girls do not look the part. They say "this business is tough", but I think "it´s fucking political"! -Skin from Skunkanansi

Summer Fun

Ahhh... isn't it great when you can go outside and the humidity is low and the temperature only in about, let's say, the 80's? Not many would agree with me, but this is the type of temperature that suits me. Instead of having the scourching heat crispying my ever so white icelandic skin, I can actually go outside and enjoy myself! :) Well, I guess i'm a wimp when it comes to this Virginian temperature, what can I say... I've been where the temperature reaches a high of 22°c (you do the math). Yea, but I just came from the pool which is freezing compared to the Icelandic geothermally heated pools and it was so nice! Since I got back home, it´s been a lot, and i mean A LOT of "family time". Well, isn´t that nice though? Then as the day goes on, the father goes golfing, the brother goes to soccer practice and the mother goes (of course) shopping for food! YUM. But yea, Silje and Kristin are going to come to Williamsburg on Sunday. I´M SO EXCITED!! They are going to VA Beach for two days, and then traveling back to the 1700´s and going to Collonial Williamsburg. It should be fun! I am thinking about going to an Aerosmith concert next week... WOULDN´T THAT ROCK?? I do believe so...! Good times good times. Well, I will leave you all with a poem which me and this Hollandish girl I met in London wrote. Enjoy!

The to be famouse writer:
I know, always was a fighter
but she was not a short sighter
Her sun shone made all brighter
She smoked her Marlboro of red
spirit is strong, no health thread
But of course the alcohol did not go to her head
Life is for the living and smile when I´m dead
Tomorrow we will see if it did
waiting in anticipation for teh hit
Whether my workout all month has made me fit
nevertheless bodies decay as lain in a pit
AND THAT´S THE WAY THE COOKIE
crumbles

Back from London

Well, I got back from London last night. I had been there on my graduation trip with Stína. It was crazy fun! We weren´t really the tourists there, since our main artinerary was to go there and forget all which we had learned in school... which was great! AND MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! We stayed at a hostel called Generator, and damn do I recomend it! It was so much fun, the staff was great, the people there friendly and the bar in the hostel itself. I think that bar did it for me and Stína, cuz every evening that we were there, we showed up for happy hour at the strum of 6 pm to pay our 1 pound for a glass of beer. Not only that but participation from our 2 person group was taken in karaoke, limbo, crazy generator game and fun pool. (I got 2nd place in fun pool thank you very much, most likely due to Jan´s thrrrree´s). We also had fun experiences with the "funny" Brazilian guy, our German friend getting SLAPPED in China Town and Colgate trying to ride a drunk bike (not succeeding). Plus our interesting political talk which almost popped up every night... but thank God for the alcohol... cuz it eased our minds. ;) I do believe it can be righteous to say that London brought out the best of us.... because we were UNBELIEVABLE with our alcoholic drinking actions. Good times, good times. Like my friend Katarina says (very innocently) "you always remember your first", and my first trip to London will always stay as a sharp reminder on how fun life can be when everything is new. To all those who made my trip awesome, THANK YOU!! ;)
