freckles in the sun

My computer hates me. Great time to have your computer hate you, when you´re in the middle of writing your BA Thesis. How fantastic. DAMN YOU COMPUTER!

On the bright side, and I will say bright side because it was sunny sunny sunny today... I am doing all right with the Thesis, I went to the pool today and these brown dots got darker on my face, and the weather is fabulous. It´s not all downhill. ;)

hjello akureyri

BACK BACK BACK IT UP!

So, I am back on the klake! I arrived thursday morning and drove up thursday afternoon and arrived around 17:00 in Akureyri. LONG DAY... that's all I will say. And yesterday was a long day too... jet lag really got me this time around. I was beat.

As most of you know, I am working on my BA thesis paper. Due date is 10. may, but I want to be done with it by the 1st. Oh woe oh woe oh woe. If anyone wants to cross their fingers, throw in a prayer, or unjinx all my bad luck... that would be greatly appreciated! Not saying that I am in desperate need of all that, just nice to have it in storage! ;)

OH MY GOD... HOW CAN I FORGET THE BIGGEST NEWS OF ALL?!? Hildur, yes I say HILDUR has gotten an automobile!! THE UNTHINKABLE HAS BECOME REALITY!! And yes, little miss hildur is very happy, very very very happy and um... quite HAPPY about the Sizzler. I LOVE IT! AND SO VERY GRATEFUL!!!

Who's her daddy?

Well, at least there is something good that I get from the news here in the Coffee Beanery, and that is that Larry Birkhead is the father of Anna Nicoles Baby, Dannielynn. Where would I be without this news coverage?

oh how I despise the news here

Well oh well oh well...

Here I sit at my x-workplace, the Coffee Beanery drinking my tea and working on my Thesis. Yes, this is my first workplace, here Ashley and I used to go after swim practice and make some de-licious coffee for oh so tired people. I think we both gained like 10 pounds working here... whipped cream bonanza! No, just kidding, we were and are gorgeous.

So I'm getting a little stressed about my Thesis... but I'm working on it. Gotta get it done gotta get it done gotta get it done!

While I'm sitting here, I am watching the news. FOX news. What shit. The news here in the US is just ridiculous. I'm not going to elaborate on why it is so, but lets just say it's crap. I could probably come up with better news than these people. That'll be my future, a news reporter. Any objections?

So yeah, one thing though that is about to come on the news is some law student who wanted to do something a little crazy before she became a lawyer, so she decided to get naked and film herself and put it on the internet. What a stupid girl. Now she's on the national news, buck ass naked, expecting to get a job and be taken seriously. I tell you, sometimes the internet can be a persons worst enemy. Stupid girl.

Well, I'm gonna get back to studying. Check-ya later Bill.

USA TODAY

dooo dooo dooo dooo dooo!!!

All right, sitting at Saga Lounge (aka business class lounge) at Keflavík airport waiting to gooooo hooooommmmmeeee! ;) Yeps, that´s right, business lounge. The reason? My dad has great friends that let me tag along with them and use their luxurious way of life. What a smoooooocher!

So, yeps I´m just a waiting.. not going to write much. Yesterday I met up with Stína, my good ole pal ;) We went to a coffeehouse and drank some deliciouso tea. We sat there and talked about psychics, cars and oh so happy family members ;) hehe! Always a pleasure to meet up with my homegirl.... gotta love her.

Today while I was getting ready I managed to get Sólveig's cats hair into my little blue eyes. I will tell you, my eyes were not blue for long. I swear to God, they felt like they were about to fall out of my big round head because they were so red and swollen. Count Hildula. That´s what I looked like!

Well, I hope you all have a great day and I will try to have a good time in the aero-plane!

Ciao!

hey now... hey now!!

All right people... it´s been quite a hectic and intense week here in Hildur land.

First of all, this week was the last week of my "Law and Economics" course. I just 5 minutes ago sent my research paper via email to my teacher so I have officially completed the course!! YIPPY SKIPPY!! Not only has the week been crazy because of this paper, but also because we had a test on Friday that we had to cram for. Always fun.

Second of all, there is a crazy lady living in my apartment building who sucked all my energy out of my body on Friday. I was so worn out after having a small ordeal with her that I forgot that I was going to go to Kumpáni´s annual general meeting. Air-head Hildur (ummm... remember the white airhead?) So yea, she messed up my Friday evening. But that is okay because Sólveig and I went swimming and had a great time doing so. We stayed there till 21:00... not too shabby.

Third of all, I am going to the States on Tuesday and I´m just soooo freakin excited!! But, because I´m going to the States I have had to tie up some loose ends with my Thesis director... I don´t know if that´s the right word, but since I don´t feel like stopping to ponder about it... I won´t.

Fourth of all, I had a Volare party (like a Tupperware party except with Volare lotions and stuff). We were 4 at my little get together because little Hildur decided to call people like 4 hours before it started. Clever Hildur, real clever.

Fifth of all... I´M SO EXCITED TO GO HOME!!!

I don´t think there´s anything more that I can say right now except that I´m soooo glad that I have finished my paper, and that I get to focus 100% on my BA Thesis!! I´m going to Reykjavík tomorrow and will be staying at Sólveig Kristín´s place. Give me a call people!

What to do with my life?

All right people...

I have been in quite a dispute with myself lately. I have no clue what I am going to do with my life at this point. This is how I think:
1. Should I finish the M.L. here in Akureyri
2. Should I go do some volunteer work for a year and then take polar law in Akureyri
3. Should I finish M.L. here and then get a masters in Polar Law after 2 years?
4. Should I finish the M.L. here and then go get my masters in environmental law somewhere else?
5. Should I finish the M.L. here and then go do volunteer work and then take polar law or should polar law and volunteering be vice-versa?

Oh the choices the choices!!! Anyone want to give me any pointers?

Because so much is riding on your Hildur...

Right... I went to the website http://www.thesurrealist.co.uk/slogan.cgi?word and got this slogan out of my name... Let´s not think about it too much ;)

So the weekend is here... Friday is here... and where am I? I am sitting at home reminiscing on my year as the President (notice the big p?) of the Entertainment Committee. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the annual general meeting of the Student Body at the University of Akureyri is today. There we will elect a new body President, Vice-President, President of the Entertainment Committee and last but not least... six other people to sit in the Student Body. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? I will no longer be the President of the Entertainment Committee... bummer! What a bummer! So... now it´s time to reminisce. (you can click on the pictures to make them bigger)
The election picture that got me the title...

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

This is how Baddý and I looked at the annual ball that was held 3. March 2007! As many of you know, I am the president of the Entertainment committee and therefore was "in charge" of the whole night. The theme of the night was 1001 Nights / Arabian Nights and the decoration was fabulous!! As ya´ll will see in the picture below, the preparation for the night went very well and we were able to throw up palm trees, an Arabian tent and find gold the size of rocks.... and there are people who say we only have steam as a resource here in Iceland! ;)All in all, we did ONE HELL OF A JOB and I have only heard good comments from people. That must mean the night was spectacular and everyone had a grand old time!! ;)

Right now I am studying for a test that I have tomorrow. Topic: Municipality law and Information law. I´m jumpin with joy over here. Just a jumpin... BY THE WAY, Jodi Murphy visited Iceland. I didn´t get to meet up with her, but I hope she had a good time!! (if she should ever visit this page)Iceland is spectacular, you all should visit here. Especially Akureyri. Fun central.is

Today is International Women´s Day!! Congratulations women all around the world! Today is really a day to think about whether women have equal rights as men... This idea usually has a negative answer, especially when it comes to the difference of wages/salaries between women and men. It is a fact that women do not get the same wages as men. Why is that? Should it be that way? Can anybody confess to this?

can´t wait to hear the responses :)

A little bit of feminism going on... ;)

Here on this site we can see the newest Dove commercial.

http://dovecreamoil.com/?ban=aolhome

Dove got a lot of attention about a year or so ago when they started using different types of women´s bodies in their commercials and advertisements. For all I know, this attention was positive attention, for I don´t think people mind getting a wider scope on models in the industry today.
In Spain models are not allowed to weigh less than a certain number. I am not sure what that number is, but if someone knows, please fill me in. I have gotten mixed remarks about this rule that was passed in Spain. Is it simply a way for "fat" people to get to be models? Are we trying to make the "fat" people happy? Is this yet again another step towards an overweight world? A very simple and short answer: NO.

How sad is an industry getting when their employees are starting to starve and manipulate their body in such a way where they break apart and in the end die? This does not happen often, but just the fact that it does happens makes it once too often. It is also a known fact that girls look up to models and do compare themselves to them. The intensity of this comparison may vary incredibly, some may want to look exactly like the models, some may only look at their hair and say, "hey, that´s cool hair". Whether girls compare themselves a little or a lot to these women, what they look like affects other women and how they view themselves. What point am I trying to make? That skinny women should not be allowed to be used in advertisements? No. What I am trying to say is that the variety of the types of models used today should be increased. Not every woman today has a flat stomach, has size 34 C breasts, has tiny thighs etc. What about the woman with a big butt or the woman with the "womanly" waist? Should woman not be able to also see the models that look more like them and see that being beautiful does not necessarily mean small waist, small but, small boobs, and small stomache?

In today´s modeling society, Marilyn Monroe would not be an ideal model. This is very interesting when we know that she is viewed as one of the most successful movie stars and models of the 50´s and 60´s and still adored by many today.

My last words: What message are advertisements and the modeling agencies giving people today? That woman are supposed to be toothpick skinny, wear as little amount of clothes as possible and that sex sells. Great. Can´t wait to raise my children in such a world where people´s differences are not celebrated.

Started once anew...

Ok, this has gotten pretty sad. I haven't written anything in about more than a month or so. Well, tons of shit has happened since then. Erm, I went to Suðureyri in January to go to Gummi Addi's funeral. It was so beautiful. The choir that sang brought tears to your eyes... Then when we stopped by Gummi's house to "say goodbye" to it, it started snowing a little bit. This snow was no ordinary snow though. The snowflakes were in the shape of the star of David. I mean they were perfectly symmetrical and exactly like stars. Someone must've been looking down on us.

What else... 2 weekends ago the school went on its annual field trip to Reykjavík. Yep, 3 day weekend, non-stop drinking, totally crazy weekend took its turn and was hello fun. On the Thursday we went karaoke singing, Friday--- um... sleep :), and Saturday I went to Stina's friends birthday party, then went to a Þorrablót for those people who used to live in Höfn but now live in Reykjavík. There I saw Eva who was one of my best friends when I was little! So FUN to see her! We´re going to try to have a little reunion soon.

Then last weekend we had an open house at the University where the Sexy Ballerina got to show her stuff. She loved it, as did the children, except for one little dude who started crying when he saw me. (or should I say her) I don´t understand why he would start crying... could you?

a new hair day

Easy guys... don´t comment all at once.

My head isn't as detached as I thought it was last night... for I thought that I had forgotten and missed the due-date for one of my assignments but it was revealed to me today that that was not the case. My teacher however did not correct my misconception when I went up to him today and said that I was so sorry and that I thought I was literally going crazy. Kick the little guy when he's down why don't you.

So I got a hair-cut today. I think it'll take some time getting used to. I call it my FM 95-7 rocker haircut. I'm not a FM 95-7 rocker person. If you get my drift. It is however a good color so at least I won't have to get used to that also. Changing style is so difficult sometimes. wah!

All right, I won't cry you guys a river anymore. Suck it up Hildur (No, I'm not talking about beer here guys.)

Well now that I've got your attention.... I just wanted to tell you all not to be strangers when it comes to writing in the comment area. Since I don't have a guestbook this is the only way that I can keep up with you guys, and if you only knew how much fun I have when checking my comments :)

And for those who don't know, I go "home" on the 9th of des... that's next Saturday LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!! I CANNOT WAIT!

More blooooooperssssss..

Yes, well the bloopers just keep on rolling in. This time I have two, we shall see if I actually feel like telling them to you all, or if I want to keep one for later... ;)
So last night Ester and I went to Pub-quiz and tried our best to win a case (24) beers by answering the oh so well written questions of Pub-quiz. The student council of the Social-Science and Legal Department was hosting the night so inevitably there were some political and more political questions asked. Ester and I, being the Political Scientists that we are, did not do so well. Lets just say we got 11 right out of 30. What clever girls. Well, we hung out for a while and then Eva her roommate came and picked us up as we didn´t want to walk home for it was HELLO slippery outside. While driving we hear a rumble in one of our stomaches and decide to stop by the store right by my apartment building. Since we were all so hungry and greedy we hurry our little asses out of the mini car that Eva owns. You know, those tiny, little cars that clowns drive around on in the circus... yea, that´s her car, with only 3 doors (two in the front and the trunk). Well, good old Hildur gets a little ahead of herself while trying to squeeze herself out of the car, steps one foot out of the car, and ooo oooo her foot starts sliding. While her foot is desperately trying to get some sort of grip, Hildur´s body FLIES OUT OF THE DAMN MINI ASS CAR and she falls STRAIGHT ONTO THE GROUND. There is Hildur, on the ground, feet and hands up in the air... LOOKING LIKE A TURTLE STUCK ON ITS BACK. While LAUGHING HER ASS OFF and not being able to breath because she´s laughing so hard Ester and Eva were almost pissing themselves because they were laughing so hard too!!! I tell you... it was great. Just great. I hung out on the ground for about two minutes trying to catch my breath, and when Ester finally decided to help me up, I just slipped and slid a little more, just to get people a little bit more jolly (while actually trying to get my ass up off the ground).

Oh yes, the great stories that Hildur comes up with. If only they were just that, just stories, but NO, they are my life experiences. Experiences that people won´t let me forget ;) hahahahah!

HOPE I GOT A SMILE ON YOUR FACES!!!!
*múah*

One of Hildur´s bloopers...

Ok... we all know that I can be a little unlucky and spaced out at times. This good old story popped up today while I was talking to some people at school, Hildur´s great mishaps, and I though I would share it with yall.
So a couple of days after the Halloween party that FSHA organized, one guy from school called me and asked me to publicize on the internet that his friend had lost an Ipod during the party and wanted me to put a "lost" article in the news section on our homepage. I of course forgot to do this since my head was not connected to my body because the Jessup competition was getting oh so close. Not only did I forget to put the news in, but I also lost all the information that he had given me. Then one day I was sitting in the FSHA office looking out the window and I see this guy whose information I had lost through the window on the other side of the building. I of course jumped out of my seat as fast as I could, ran down the hall not wanting him ditch me, caught a glimpse of him and started calling "Siggi!!! Siggi!!! SIGGI!!!!" He casually glimpses at me like I´m a lunatic, but I of course think that he just didn´t hear me so I call again "Siggi!!!" and grab him by the shoulder and turn him around and as I do that he makes eye contact, looks at me like I am LOCO (spanish for crazy) and says "MY NAME IS GUNNAR!" I of course tried to save my ass by saying something so dumb like "uuuhhh... you mean like Siggi Gunnar?!"
So I basically ran down the hall of the school screaming/calling this guy and running after him... CALLING THE BLOODY WRONG NAME.
MÚAHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!!

gobble gobble last saturday

So "late Thanksgiving" was held in the home of Hildur Sólveig on Saturday. Yes, Hildur had a Thanksgiving dinner and MADE IT ALL BY HERSELF!! Turkey, gravy, mashed potato etc. etc.!!! It was soooooo good. Nothing like a turkey dinner! My turkey looked like this.

Mmm.... deliciouso! AND TONS OF LEFT OVERS, so if you want some turkey you know where to find it!!
Well, I have to get going. I´m taking two courses at the moment, a workshop and a course where I´m supposed to be working on my BA thesis. Loaded man, totally loaded ;)

My tarot card...

Well guys... this says it all... What great things the life has in store for the devil. great. just great.

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

What Tarot Card are You?

and on she babbles...

Do you know what I cannot stand... more than anything... being pissed off. I think it is one of the worst feelings that I can ever get. Why? Because when I get pissed off, I start to feel these pangs of conscience (samviskubit) for being pissed off. How lame is that? Why can I not just be pissed off in peace eh?

My winter wonderland...

Thought I would throw in a picture and show you all how much snow there is in Akureyri right now. Not only is there tons of snow... but it´s HELLO cold too. Yesterday it was like -15 degrees celsius... I stayed inside basically all day... not due to a hangover... but due to the cold. ;)

and here´s one of Anna on her way to school...

and one of the pretty sun-set

By the way... it´s starting to get dark here around 4 p.m. That is such a bummer. Good thing I´m going "home" soon... I cannot wait!

another thursday... but at least I wrote on monday!

Okay, and this is even unplanned! WHAT IS IT WITH THURSDAYS?!!?!?!?!!?!?

Well, here´s the news... We didn´t win HÍ. What crapy news eh? Well, at least we did a good job... they were good.. we should´ve been better. ;)

So I´ve just been completely brain dead since we got home. It probably doesn´t help that it has been snowing 24/7 since Sunday. So basically, it´s a winter wonderland here in Akureyri and Hildur´s little head (oh how incorrect that is... considering my head is the size of a basketball) is off in some other place... full of marshmellows and snowmen that walk around with black hats on their heads. Beautiful!! I thought I would do a nice gesture today and decided to gather some crumbs and throw them on the snow on my balcony to feed the birds... to get in the magical snowland mood... but none came... I wasted several slices of bread for the birds that never were... clever girl. But seriously, Anna and I could make a snowhouse on our balcony if we could get open the door. Whereas the snow is blocking the door, I don´t think we´ll make an attempt, unless we get snow-house crazy. Then we´ll do it. My friend Hilmar and his girlfriends son were throwing snowballs at me and Dagný when I got home today... I was about to tackle Hilmar and sit on his back with his face in the snow until his nose fell off... but I didn´t. Thought I would be the bigger man and not part-take in such non-sense... cough cough.

Really don´t have much to say... I feel like my blogs keep getting more borring... considering the comments I get I have a feeling like no one is reading this stuff...

SHOW ME SOME LOVE PEOPLE!

another thursday...!?!?

Ok... I don´t know what´s up with the thursday thing... Maybe when I realize that it´s been a week since I wrote last time, I start to get a little nervouse and feel some sort of obligation to write. ;)

So the big 80th birthday party in Suðureyri went really well! IT WAS SPECTACULAR! The old man was so happy and the whole family was soooo glad to see each other. I will tell you, all of the cousins... my cousins and I and the rest of all of us... THE FAMILY... are all such good friends! If I could could get a dollar for all the parties that have consisted basically only of family... I would be a rich rich rich girl. WHAT IS MY POINT? when you are in a place that consists of 350 people... you have no friends other than family ;)

So Jessup is on Monday... MONDAY MONDAY MONDAY... I think of this day and I see doomsday! No, just kidding... we´ve been getting some good practicesi in and all so It´ll be really fun to see how we do... cross your fingers!!!! And all of you who are in RVK on monday... I think the competition is supposed to be around 17:00, COME WATCH US!

love you all <3,

My life sucks at the moment...

Oh my God... I have to write something so you people don´t think I´m dead or stop visiting my blog... the things I have to do to keep you guys interested in me ;) Harhar!
So there was an earthquake today... we were sitting in the classroom and felt the building move. It was pretty cool and was most definitely a first. The earth moved under my feet ;) Speaking of earthmoving events... NONE OF THOSE HAVE HAPPENED LATELY. Yes, I tell you all the truth. My life consists of Jessup, Jessup, Jessup, Class, FSHA, FSHA, FSHA, JESSUP, CLASS, JESSUP, JESSUP... I do believe I have made my point.
I´m going to Suðureyri on Friday morning... I CANNOT WAIT!!!!! A weekend away from Akureyri is just what I need at the moment... just what I need... and not to mention seeing the ENTIRE family there!!

What's up with Thursdays?

What is it about me and Thursdays? Maybe knowing that I don't have class on Fridays makes me feel somewhat better and let myself sit in front of the computer and reminise about the week just passed.
So Jessup is not too far away... holy smokes! We were talking with one of our coaches about having several panels a week. That's crazy, but hey... Jessup is crazy. Damn I hope we beat HÍ!!
So Hildur the American keeps on having an impact on the social life here at the University of Akureyri. Our Halloween party is going to be on the 28. October. We have rented a huge ass hall that will include DJ Hildur, huge dance floor, a really nice bar, tons of fun, scary, dead looking people and splendid decorations! I cannot wait... it's going to be crazy! Don't know what I'm going to be yet, but there will be pictures. :D
My mother is coming to Iceland next week and will be here for 2 weeks, and then the family may be coming to Iceland the first week of November because of my grandfathers birthday!!!! WOOHOO... lets just hope that I will be able to go to the birthday party also... it's the week before Jessup :(
One last thing... This week my professor had a little lecture about CUPL, China University of Political Science and Law, that is located in Beijing. I think you all should know that that's where my road is leading me...

Well, this is getting long, and I'm soooo tired!

And thursday it is...

Well well well… Chinese law, eh? A shiver runs down my spine

I don’t know if I’ve told you all, but the 2nd and 3rd years of law are all together in the same class this year. That means that my class, consisting of 10 ppl and the 2nd year, consisting of about 20-25 are together taking Chinese Law at the moment. This is fun indeed. More fun than sitting in class: the coffee breaks. We talk about such funny stuff, yesterday the conversation trailed from someone’s grandma, to old people, to disabled people, to suicide. What a way to lighten up your day huh? HAHA, but no, we’re fun people to hang around during the break… at least that’s what I tell them :)

The snow disappeared yesterday, thank Deus!!! I really was not ready for the winter yet…. lets hope that Jack Frost holds out on the North Pole a little while longer!

So on Tuesday I went to a Body Pump class. Today I can barely walk. Seriously, I’m limping around trying to remember to put one foot in front of the other. If I touch the front of my thigh I scream out in pain. What a freakin wimp eh??

All right... Well the Sprellmót is over! HALLELUJA! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN and everything ran smoothly. Well, we did forget the bongs for the beer bong contest, but that was all right because we then just decided to have the beer bong competition during the evening before the song contest! So many people came during the evening and things just went so well... I was a happy camper!
So now I feel like a weight has been lifted and I don´t have a care in the world. We know that is not the case though. I have to study for Jessup, I have to study for the Chinese Law course that I´m in right now and I have to do Student Council stuff. Well, at least the Sprellmót is done. ;)

BELIEVE IT OR NOT... the mountain-tops here in Akureyri have turned white. Not just the mountain-tops, but rather most of the mountain-side. DARN DARN DARN! Winter is coming and I´m not ready for it. This morning when I was jumping into Magga Lilja´s car I had to pull with all my might to open the damn door. Jack Frost was playing a trick on me and decided to freeze the door to the car.

shy, loud, sex, deaf????

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if I was a little bit more shy... or not so aggressively talkative to people. Would that make me borring or would people be more curious about me. Are people maybe curious why a person is not shy? Shy people are often talked about as having many "secrets" and double-lives...damn spies... but do loud people not have exactly the same "secrets" and so on and so forth. I think it is safe to say that I am not quite. Is being loud the same as not being shy? Or do I just have a hearing problem? My mother was one day checking to see if I heard all right and snuck up behind me and whispered "Hildur..." and I was like... mom, what are doing?!? Obviously I´m not hard of hearing, just damn loud. Hilmar, one of my friends here in Akureyri says sex makes the hearing better.... I wonder what message he is trying to get through...??

And the nerding continued

I am a nerd... yes I know... Nerd nerd NerD

Now who is going to let me take their picture?! wuahahaha!

I love it...

My new camera is so cool!!!! I love it, and especially because it came with some really cool photoshop wannabe program and it makes the pictures that I take look really cool and it's just the awesomest!! My boasting is over now.
So what has been happening in the world of Hildur... Well, my GRAND Jessup team is going to go directly against the University of Iceland. The 4th years are going to do another competition... so right now we are just reading and reading and reading, trying to get smarter and smarter. I think I will be a genious after about 4 months. Anyone want to make a bet on that?

So Sprellmótið is on Friday. For those of you who don't know what Sprellmótið is... IT IS THE MOST FUNNEST DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR! It is a competition between the students of the departments of the University. The events being a beer relay, shot relay, eating competition, beer bong, tug-a-rope and the grand old COSTUME CONTEST! I have a feeling that the costumes this year will be very interesting... I have a feeling that the Department of Social Sciences and Law will win though. We are the best after all :)

At the moment I am sitting in my bed with a Blue Lagoon mask on my face... very glad no one is home to see my white-masked face.

TIL HAMINGJU ÆVAR OG TITIKAHN! A little angel arrived this morning :)

With all that said, I bid good night. Hopefully I´ll be able to put the damn camera down and stop taking pictures of everything in my apartment. We shall see...

so excited once again!

Well she's done it. Plugged herself into the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. We shall see if my team has to compete against the 4th year students at the University of Akureyri, or if we go directly against the University of Iceland at the end of October. This will all become clear on Friday... So, if anyone has any downers, then please have contact to the girl in the red apartment building who is FLIPPING SHIT because she's so EXCITED! Thank you :)

WHOAH WHAT A WEEKEND!!

I think that I would not be lying to you all if I said that I had one of the funnest days of my life on Saturday. Kumpáni went WHITE WATER RAFTING! The most dangerous river in Iceland, and one of the most dangerous rivers in Europe! And I´ll tell you, it was crazy. We flipped over, I got stuck under the boat, paddles were everywhere, we were drenched, jumped off a 8 m. cliff (sólveig tried) and IT WAS CRAZY! Oh it was such a fun trip... the kids at school are still talking about it! If you go to www.rafting.is
you can see more information about the river. It also didn´t hurt that the guides were MAD HOT!! I think I´ll have to start making that trip weekly ;) I have the feeling that if I start making that trip they´re going to leave the country. I think our guide got enough of us. I was talking constantly. Amphetamine American style! Sólveig started singing : Sail away with me honey, and then I turn my whole body, point at the guide and scream/sing I PUT MY HEART IN YOUR HAND. He also asked us not to embarrass him, had me pulled off the boat when I asked him whether he didn´t like having us on his boat, yelled at Dagný for being too cold and not swimming to the boat, told Sólveig he wasn´t sure if he wanted to have her on his boat, AND... well, I think that´s enough for now. :) He was awesome though!!

Hrefna, my classmate, and I almost just jumped in her car and drove to Sauðarkrókur. We´re going to have to make that trip sometime soon. I´ve gotsa visit a good old couple there ;)

The elevator has been playing games again. Yesterday it was broke. AS A JOKE. No but seriously, it´s starting to get to be a little too much!

skeletonization clear

They have finally fixed the elevator in my apartment building. I was starting to get worried that I would shrivel up because of how often I was walking up and down the stairs. I could just hear my fat cells screaming aur voi (because they're french) and I was starting to get a little worried that in no time I would just become a skeleton. Thank God they fixed that elevator!!!

I'm writing a report on domicile. If anyone has any input, then please comment below. I only want very educated comments, so if you're stupid, please don't write anything. After all, I am at the University level. ;)

Nurses and playboy

As I was going through some pictures today finding ones to give to Dagný to put on www.fsha.is, I found this picture... and I just had to chuckle a little bit. It´s not too often that you see a dude, wearing a nurses dress, drinking beer and looking at a dirty magazine with such curiousity. Harharhar!

Well, orientation week is over, and I can not be so happy. I WAS DEAD ON SUNDAY. And today I had to take a nap. Lets just say that I was tired because of the busy week, not because of the gallons of golden water and black shots that were taken during the course of a week and a half :D

The weather today in Akureyri has been crap. Crap, crap, CrAp, cRaP, CRAP! Remindes me of Hurricane Floyd.... wink wink.

Well off to bed. The pictures keep rolling in and you can click on the links here to the side.

finally an update

Alllllll right already... this bloglessness is getting to be a little pathetic. Time to stop the madness.

So as most of you would already know... I am back in Akureyri, Iceland. Great times great times. Orientation week for the new students started on Monday and is going strong the entire week. So that means party party and a little more par to the ty. Well, that's all good :)

I'm staying with my friend Dagny for the time being... until the 31st of August. In a way I feel like Harry Potter... where he was in the closet under the stairs, my room is the storage room! Oh the abuse, the abuse, and I don't get to use my magic in the house! Then when she gets visitors over, I make a havoc by hovering my suitcases, guitar and huge ol box around the room until all of a sudden it drops and looks like a bomb of clothes has just exploded. No I'm ooonlyyy kidding... my Harry Potter closet has a window and I sleep on a "bed"! ... but I will not talk about all the crap that follows me! HAHAHA! Dagny and I have been having grand old fun... haven't had to cook yet... loving the orientation week whereas we get so much food at the events!! Good stuff man.

Well I've taken billions of pictures on my spankin new camera and I have to download them asap onto the computer and throw them into my picture page.

peace

GOOD DAY WILLY!!

Well people... I have gotten myself a photo-page once again. This one is much more convenient and I hope you guys check out the pics and enjoy. The ones from the summer of 2004 are whack... a lot of hanging out with the good old Einarsson's!! :) OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ!!!

So sleeping in your own bed is probably the best feeling in the world. Even though you may not be sleeping, just hanging out in your own bed is awesome. I second that idea that was in Sex and the City about making a bar called Bed. Beds all over the place... one would just have to be careful not to catch any bed-bugs. YIKES! We picked up the dogs today too... they could not have been more happy to see us. I´ll have to take some pictures now that I´m in the burg and can steel two cameras. Arni got a new camera in San Diego the other day that he´s been waving in my face since I saw him today... so I think I deserve some alone-time with it. I´ve been teaching him on guitar all day... in between me loading the washing machine. Clean my precious clothes from the Washington smog. I love being home.

Magni did quite a good job tonight during Rockstar Supernova... I thought he was a bit nervous, but he definitely pulled through! Hope you all are voting for him as I write this... I already did. Several times :D Hey, support the eskimos! www.rockstar.msn.com

the fifth day

Rightyó... well, I am just counting the days now. Although I really like to be in the embassy, I am ready to head on home and just relax. Also just to get the bloody hell out of the house where I´m staying and go home :D That´s another story... that will probably not be told here ever. So Cambridge Massachusettes here I come.... well, on friday. That´ll be a really nice little vacation. I´ll finally go to New England... a place that I have totally imagined in my mind. Crab boats, docks, cool breeze, salt/fish smell in the air... love it, and we shall see if it´s an image of mind that comes to life.
So Amma Níní´s birthday was on Saturday, as was Alexander Hrafn´s, Auður´s and Ársæll´s little one, baptised on Saturday. Really sucks not being there for those two events. But I guess it´s as they say... you can´t be in two places at once. Well... gotta get back to work. Counting the days... counting the days... 4 days after this day and then I´m off to Willy!

sushi-go-where-?

I am such a loser. So yesterday I was supposed to meet all those interns and hang out with them and most likely make life-long friends that would be with me to the grave... but no... Hildur forgets the little paper that she wrote the name and location of the restaurant at work. Of course she does not remember anything she wrote down... except that the restaurant is somewhere in Adams Morgan and that it is a sushi restaurant. Well, let us see... a million restaurants in Adams Morgan and many of them sell sushi. At least I burned some calories while my face was leaking down onto my shirt. So I definitely roamed around a lot. But then I bumped into the guy who also lives in the house and we went out for drinks. At one of the places drinks were on the house for ladies... so I drank. :)
Well... better get back to work... very important business awaits me... right...

feeling down...?

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Yo

Well wouldn´t you know it... Hildur just got invited to a “intern get-together” at a Sushi bar tomorrow!! Haha, oh how long the little lady has been waiting for this. ;) Yeayeayea, well I´m gonna go, hopefully it´ll be fun, and if it isn´t, then there´s sushi!
I went to a spinning class yesterday at the gym and today I am walking around like a penguin. Did you March of the Penguins? Yes, today I am able to convince people that I was the one to first dive into the ocean in that movie. SAY WHAT? No but seriously, not only that, but yesterday morning I kicked my guitar case so freakin hard that I though my toe was going to fall off. That is why it´s comfy shoe day. Love the comfiness.
So the building across from me is having its windows cleaned. There is a cart hanging outside of a window. That´s some scary shit. I would never recomend anyone that job.
So... about the Israelis attacking Lebanon... that´s shit.

All right... well the heat wave that is slowly passing the east coast of the us is definitely making me lose like 15 pounds. It must be! I mean, I seriously leak here. You would think some pounds would follow that water... right? Well, a girl can always dream. But seriously, it´s HELLO hot outside and I just hate hate hate walking in this weather. But I have gotten some color, red, lately. I went to Georgetown on Sunday to spend a day with the most fun and excelent person I know... myself. Hey, you have to talk good about the person who you have to spend every single day and moment with ;) Well I went shopping, ate lunch and dinner there, went to see You, Me and Dupree, sat on a bench by the water and “tanned”. It was a really good day and I bought a lot of töff stuff. The consequence, like I stated earlier is that I got burnt and am a lot of money poorer... but who the hell cares, it was a great day :D
So today I don´t know exactly what I will do... probably will throw some things into the washer, go to the gym and scavange something to eat. Sounds like a plan. WeLp, gonna go now... adios

Monday, July 10, 2006

Yeah yeah yeah... SO FRANCE DIDN´T WIN!!! GO ITALY!!! YESS!!! They ruined like every single game for me, so they were definitely not on my good side ;) I still have to see Zidane´s foul... missed that because I had to take the train up to D.C. yesterday.
So I went to Williamsburg this weekend. My father picked me up on Thursday and then I came back yesterday. Good stuff, good stuff... I am starting to look forward for this month to be over and just going to chill at home until I go to Iceland.
So, now the World Cup is over and Hildur will stop going to the bars like no other. Well, maybe not stop going to the bars, but at least give them a small break. And who knows, maybe I´ll find some new bars! Now that I don´t have to keep searching for a bar that is playing the game. Interesting times ahead. WELL, i don´t have too much to say right now... more blog later.

the fun times... the fun times...

Well... I have become the unlucky charm. For some reason, all the teams I want to win... LOSE! I think some greater soccer force is trying to tell me to stop watching the games and go on with my regular exciting life. But that's bullocks! Germany has to pull through now... and I will be there watching and cheering until they do!
So I watched the games yesterday... what a tragedy! First, England loses... second, BRAZIL LOSES! What is up with that? I was not a happy camper after the game, I will tell ya! By the way, the bar where I watched the game was packed! Seriously... I had to watch the game downstairs and there... people ended up sitting on the floor! It was an all right mixture of Brazil and France supporters though... so there was some cheering by the end of the game.
So last night I met up with the au pair girls... and that was crazy fun. We ended up grilling, drinking, hanging out and talking about who we know in Iceland, because for some reason everyone in Iceland know somebody that you know. Then we ended up going downtown and going to the "icelandic bar" as some call it. Actually, it's a bar where they sell VÍKING beer... but at one of the bars there was an Icelandic flag hanging outside. I'm definitely going to have to go there again.
Hmm... well lets see, I didn't make any guy cry this time, wasn't told that I was a horrible dancer, didn't get asked to go to the basement with Raul... I would say it was a very successful night! Wouldn't you?!? But I will tell you, we did end up getting talked to by this guy, who was VERY interested in Iceland and us, and then I made some comment on why him and his friend were sitting together (some gay comment) and then this guy COMPLETELY cracked up and HIS LAUGH was TERRIBLE!!! I swear, I can't even explain it... it was like a donkey, monkey, whale kind of mix... HALLARIOUS! I swear, when he started laughing, I though I was about to die... seriously, I though I was going to fall into a laughing spree... but thank God that only lasted a short time, because this guy would've killed me with his laugh. DAMN, I think that was the funnest part of the night. Oh no, wait wait wait... when we were waiting for the metro when we were going home, this guy was sitting beside us and literally waited like 15 minutes to ask where we were from. He was like all trying to listen to us, and it was just so funny. And we thought it was so funny so we laughed and laughed and laughed!! hahaha. Then I made shunned a guy who rooted for France... poor kid. Hahaha, seriously, he was probably like 17! AHAHAH! Well, you're not supposed to root for the wrong team!

the not so nice,

i don´t care...

Well Italy is up 1 at the moment... and i´m just waiting to go down to watch the game. It´ll be a good one I believe. So... my mother´s birthday was yesterday. I didn´t have a picture of her at work, so I was unable to throw her picture up. That´s all right though, I talked to her like a million times yesterday :) I don´t know what I´m going to do this weekend... the au pair girls and I are supposed to do something fun... tralalalalalala!!!!
4th of July is on Tuesday. If it´s not lively here in D.C. then I don´t know where it would be lively...! Anybody got any good ideas for me to do?
Well... it has come to my attention that people are not commenting... so i´m thinking that nobody is reading my bloggings... so I´m gonna blog about much more interesting stuff a la Hildur. Screw you guys :D

oh man... I'm definitely missing my cuties... Sable and the little Týra. They´re so precious! aww...

Well, Hildur decided to watch the Spain-France game yesterday after work. So she went to a bar, had a glass of white wine and watched the game. But no no no, people were so eager to buy me drinks that I stayed there until like 10:30/11!!!!! Right, good job Hildur. Well hey, what can you do... when you´re having fun you just gotta have fun! haha... I was celebrating Arni´s birthday... yeps, that´s what I was doing!
Well A-buoay, I hope you had a greatabulous birthday and ate that salmon like no other.

Hann á afmæli í dag!

June 27th ehh...??
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ÁRNI!!!

and the djamm continues... :)

In conclusion... nobody gives a whootanany!

So, as much as I hate to say this, it has been raining in Washington for like EVER! Well maybe not forever, but a long time, and it´s not just little rain drops, it´s flippin PoW pOw rain drops. It ain´t no joke. That´s right.
So work is still going well... I think I´ve been getting a little boost from the Vitamin C pills that I´ve been taking. Hey, when your brother talks about it that much about something, then you gotta give! I talked to Stína yesterday... she said it was raining in Reykjavík too. Yippee, the two places have something in common. My internet at "home" hasn´t been working... oh look what´s going on... it just started raining! Flooding has been a bit of a problem here in the D.C. area, the picture on the front page of the newspaper shows a fish on the lawn of some house. That is to say, it got on the lawn because the sewers or something were overflooded. Something of the sort.

Well, now that i´ve enlightened you all, have a nice day.

SCREW STOCKS... BUY MORE BEER!!!

Retirement Planning:
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, You would have had $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

It's called the 401-Keg Plan.

Like a mormon... touched for the very...

June 21st, the longest day of the year. What does that mean? You have to enjoy every minute of the sun because it´s the longest day of the year! Yeps, those are the words of the great Hildur. So, I am offically a MY SPACE addict. I go on myspace and I swear, I get completely lost in the micro-macro-cyber-blabla world. I definitely need to de-space.
Well, life with the mormons is... erm... well... interesting :) Harharhar, let´s just say that I haven´t seen any more mormon "pray people" at the house, and I don´t part-take in Sunday "family day" ;) man oh man, what I´m missing out on... haha
I do believe I´m going to be graduating from ALDO to Manolo Blahnics in no time, considering how well my feet have been adjusting. HAHA, Manolo´s will be a vacation for my feet :) (Hildur talking like a millionare now) The city and I have also been getting along better, no longer do I roam like a chicken with it´s head cut off (7, 9, 13).
So I´m going to be going to Georgetown after work... get a little culture and shopping done :) Who knows, maybe even a glass of white wine will slip into my hands! Oh how nice it´ll be!
HAHA p.s. my brother Arnþór has called me the past 2 days YAPPING about vitamins and how good they are for you and how it only takes 10 seconds to take them and how they are really good for your body and how when you´re older you´re going to wish you would have taken vitamins... ALL RIGHT ALREADY! hahahha... Gotta love the guy, I mean hey... he´s looking out for his sister! :D

Aight, gonna get a going...

Hæhóogyippeeyeah! 17. JUNE WAS GRAND! The family all went to the embassy, mingled and had a lot of fun. Then we went to another bar to play pool, then we went to eat... HOLY CRAP GOOD... and then the siblings went partying, calling it an early night due to excessive drinking and juicing!!! HAHAHAHA!
So then yesterday we, the sibs, decided to be really educational and go to the National Aquarium, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, and the National Zoo!! So today we are 20 times smarter after that day, especially since it was a day after mad partying! Holy Moly! So yes, we did some fun stuff, yes we did. Plus, I got some birthday presents, 2 steel statutes and shot glasses. BRILLIANT! Plus the fact that when us siblings were partying... I didn´t pay at all for my good ole drinks ;)

on my birthday...

All right... don´t have much time, but I´m gonna tell ya´ll what I did on my birthday. Leah was not able to come up to Washington due to "car problems"... yeps, I´ve heard that excuse before ;) hahah.... so therefore I decided to just go the bar after work and watch the rest of the Germany-Poland soccer game. I go there, have myself a Guiness, watch the game and was satisfied with the outcome. Then after the game, I go further into the bar and sit at the bar. I talk on the phone, Arni tells me some pick-up lines that I´m to use on guys, Einar told me I had to make friends... so what do I do... SIT MYSELF DOWN AT A TABLE AND START TALKING TO THIS GUY. So we were talking, he was like some army guy blah blah blah, talk a little more about something... he kept on asking me if I knew what he was talking about, I had no bloody clue... and then he started tearing up. HAHAHAHA
I MADE A 36 (OR 26 ... i couldn´t understand him) MAN CRY ON MY BIRTHDAY!
hahahahahhahahahah!
I don´t know how I did it but, his eyes seriously started getting wet, and then he would rub his eyes and stuff... crazy crazy crazy man! DA-DA-DA-DA-DAMN!
Well, if that´s not enough to make you smile and brighten your day... then I don´t know what will. Oh the fun things that happen on my birthday!
